Today I am happy to provide the second Developer Commentary Video of Corpses 'N Souls. In this video I will go into details regarding the new Ultra Reflection system that included a updated renderer and shader/pre-post FX system. All of these cool features have been merged into my game engine 2DEvolved and Corpses ' N Souls and is running in game.
In this video I will demonstrate the new Ultra Reflections FX in the water. In order to achieve the Ultra Reflections in my custom game engine 2DEvolved I had to update and add new features to the main renderer. One of the goals of the Ultra Reflections was to also include advance FX like lighting and Shadows and any other PRE and POST FX. This was a challenging task since it is not trivial to isolate and explicitly apply certain FX to only certain layers of a whole render zones. Your engine basically has to be designed and support such a visual design/concept. Another challenge that I faced was to make sure that all the rendering stages do not overlap, conflict, distort or degrade the desired final render. The end result proved to produce a more crisper and explicit render as an artifact and all the PRE and post FX gained a greater visual quality along with all the new advance FX.

In the images below is a nice comparison where you can notice the difference of the old renderer and the new renderer and how much visual data was missing from the reflection. With the past renderer it was not possible to show lighting, shadows, glowing particles, and other advance PRE FX the engine simply could not handle it.

This concludes the main base game engine features in 2DEvolved visually that I had planned and I am happy to say the core renderer is complete(pre alpha). As development goes into full swing specifically with gameplay I will continue to add new features that will help leverage my vision and imagination of the final canvas of Corpses 'N Souls.
