A small sandbox city, vehicles to take and missions to do driving and/or on foot. This is a project made by one person mainly as a learning experience, with the main goal of at least creating a 'proof of concept' demo. Programmed using DirectX 9.0c for the graphics, Bullet Physics as the physics engine and OpenAL for the sound.

None of those sounds are from Minecraft, they merely sound similar -- probably because most of them are incredibly basic sounds.

On the matter of the proof of concept demo itself... as I believe I said before, this game you're putting together is amazingly impressive for one guy, but it might pay off to have one or two people to join in to add more polish to the game and have some more depth added as well.

Still, a very impressive technical achievement.

Thanks Reqieumthefallen, glad you like it. In fact, I use some sounds from freesound.org, and minecraft does too (one of the sounds I use when a pedestrian is hurt is used in minecraft if I'm not wrong).

It's mainly a learning experience project, that's why I've decided to do it on my own.

I can't record gameplay video at a higher resolution with my modest machine without losing frames :D, hence the strange resolution I'm using in the video. I do what I can with what I have.

I use some sounds from freesound.org, minecraft does too.

In case you are curious: Minecraft.net The links in the credits to the list of sounds from freesound minecraft uses don't seem to work anymore, but the sound you probably recognized from minecraft is this one: Freesound.org (my demo will include a readme file with credits to the sounds I use from freesound).

dude dont let them talking about the craft sounds get ya down. u went with the next best thing. you can download sounds at sound dog . com google it. they have all kinds of sounds.

oh, I have no problem talking about the sounds, I just wanted to make it clear that I didn't 'borrow' the one I use when the pedestrian is hurt from minecraft, it's a free sound I got from freesound dot org, a great site to get sounds, the same place some of the sounds of minecraft come from (as you can see in the credits of the game). Thanks for the url, I'll check it out.

Video of the first working demo of the project I've been putting together the last few weeks, I'm calling it 'Proof of Concept' demo given the early state of the project, that includes all that I've made so far.

I'm planning on publishing the demo this week when I've polished it a little more, in case someone is interested in checking it out or helping me test it.
