'City' Project: 'Proof of Concept' Demo download
A small sandbox city, vehicles to take and missions to do driving and/or on foot. This is a work in progress project, made by one person mainly as a learning experience and with no official name yet, whose current goal is creating a 'proof of concept' demo and then keeping adding things to it. Programmed using DirectX 9.0c for the graphics, Bullet Physics as the physics engine and OpenAL for the sound.

Description
Keep in mind this is a very early demo, it still isn't much fun to play and there are tons of things that need improvements (the city is small, there are very few things to do, the AI is too basic...). It's just meant as a milestone for the project, a 'proof of concept', a way for me of having something to show and test to see how things are developing and where I can take it from here, but I've decided to release it in case someone wants to check it out or help me test it. I recommend taking a look at the README file before playing, it contains information about the requirements, controls, known bugs (there's one that makes the camera go blank that seems to happen more often than I thought), things I want to add in future versions, the credits... Note: from the feedback I've received so far, the demo doesn't seem to work too well with integrated/intel graphics cards (low or too variable framerates and strange behavior of the traffic).

That's strange, alut.dll is included in the zip file... maybe you don't have OpenAL installed?, I'm not sure why it's telling you alut.dll is missing.
Maybe you are missing some of the required installed libraries, there's a list in the README file. Sorry I can't be of more help.
For Windows download olinst from connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/Forms/AllItems.aspx and it works great :)

works and i am impressed! thanks for sharing, can'T wait to see and play more. btw, maybe a small bug i found: after starting a taxi-mission i got out of the car and punched another guy often, then suddenly the monitor turned white... sound was still there, menu still worked and the "mission failed" (taxi) screen still appeared, but with everything white. restarting the game worked.
Thanks for the positive input! That's one of the bugs I know about, you can see a list in the README file. Sorry it's still there, but I haven't figured out why it happens yet, it's only happened to me a couple of times which makes it harder to fix, but I'll try to fix it in the future :D
hello binarynonsense, something odd happens with your game when I extract it I can't execute the .exe file then my Norton anti virus pops up and calls it sonar or something saying it s high level threat. now I don't think this is harmful software, I think Norton just been a bitch again like it always is but the only way to play this is to turn it off or uninstall it :/ anyone else having the same problem with there anti virus?
I'm quite certain it has no virus, and nobody has told me there's any problem with the zip or their antivirus, neither the friends that tested it before I uploaded it here nor the people that tried it after... I have no idea why norton tells you that. You can watch the video I uploaded to see how it looks if you don't feel comfortable trying the demo itself, there's not much else I can do, sorry.
