First off, hello.
Second: I've got an idea.
Basically, in star trek you have your reactor, and put dilitium* crystals in it. Then you push matter and antimatter to that crystal and get plasma. Radiation is collected and all waste is converted by replicators.
But the main point is that you need energy to stay alive and move around, not to discuss how much power can a star trek sized computer use... In the TV shows and films they keep on going down to planets, searching for deuterium.
Does such a complicated energy system have a chance of making an appearance in the game? Maybe all your actions could cost a specific amount of energy, plus even when you're offline minimal energy must be generated at your ship. Then you have to go searching for dilitium* crystals every now and then. I know this may significantly decrease the number of clients that can be on a server (or quadrant as the author calls them) and potentially generate extra server load even when there's a small number of people playing. But this must be considered... MATH: There is 10000 players that have ever been to the server. 500 of them is online, making 10 actions a minute per each (500*10=5000). Then there are 9500 users offline. Server could act on them every minute or 2 minutes... That's 9500+5000=14500 calculations (and access to the database) every minute, but this has other aspects. Having to make sure their ship doesn't run out of energy convinces users to play more often. That is the point of the game isn't it? Also, there could be premium features to decrease energy cost which means money to keep the servers up.

Please consider the idea, I think you might like it...

*possibly spelled that wrong

PS.: Can't wait for the game, I'll definitely play it!
