BrokenEarth is a Single/Cooperative/Multiplayer shooter that takes the topdown genre a bit more seriously.
Inspired by games like PerfectDark64, Halo2 and GoldenEye, Created by first person shooter players, BrokenEarth tries to escape the limits of the topdown genre, letting fps players feel right at home. From the start, our focus was gameplay first and though thats hard to show in a Screenshot, we can say that there's no mindless AI, flat battlefields or bullet sponge enemies here.
Weapons have to feel believable, gameplay has to be simple to pickup but allow skilled players to master. AI needs to be as deadly as enemy players. These were our design goals.

NEWLY REGISTERED USERS: Any user that couldn't login to the game after registering can now login with no issue, there was an issue with the confirmation system, and it is now resolved.
Thank you for your patience.
Bought it, created the account, and attempted to login. I can get into offline mode just fine, but when attempting to actually login to online, the "Attempting to Login" loading screen displays, and nothing else happens. I've already uninstalled/reinstalled, but that did not fix it. I love games of this style, and really want to play online, but if it won't let me log on, I might to wait until a later date, when development is further along.
Oh, very sorry for the issue, I think you need to confirm yourself via email, you should have recieved the confirm code to do so.
We will fix that issue and prompt the user telling him that he should do that... :)
Thank you for your patience and support.
Your account was enabled manually, please notify us with any further issues.
It's not the same thing man, joy2key can only replace the mouse and keyboard inputs, any game with a mouse-based interface it's going to suck when played with fake controller support...when i asked about gamepad support i meant proper one...
Oh and yeah it means quite much to me because i often play in places where i can't use a mouse and/or i like to connect my laptop to the TV and play on a couch...therefore i rarely buy a game with no decent gamepad support, it has to be something i really NEED and this game looks very good but not THAT good, if i recall correctly Torchlight 2 is the only mouse-needing game i enjoyed in the last couple years.
it would play like garbage with a controller though.. even with proper support they would have to redo the entire system for it to feel even close to functional (playing with 2 sticks and nothing but the triggers... think about it). you shouldnt buy laptops if you want to play games, if you do atleast buy the proper input devices to go along with them (n52 and a proper mouse). pc games are meant to be played with mice for the most part (infact i will just go ahead and say ALL PC games but keep in mind every game that is also on consoles is considered a pc "port" not a pc game). you will NEVER EVER get the cursor control out of a controller that you get out of a mouse until they start putting trackballs ON the controllers.
Well i mostly play indie platforms, metroidvanias, twin stick shooters and other stuff which plays perfectly with a gamepad, it's not a matter of pc games/console games but a matter of genres...If you wanna play fps/rts/mmorpg then yeah, keyboard and mouse is the best choice, but what about racing games, fighting games, platform games, action rpgs (old school style, not Diablo style), 2d shooters etc.? Definitely not...
If you think that pc games = games with a mouse based interface you're quite wrong...it wasn't true back in the days (i remember playing fps games with keyboard only in the early 90s) and it's definitely not true now with the indie scene creating a lot of pc-only platform/action games which play better with a gamepad! :D
And with porting from a platform to another being easier nowadays, there are always more and more game thought for both console and pc play (and those are not ports), and of course most of those games perfectly support gamepads on pcs too...
um.. indie platformers and metroidvanias are both really platformers, which are retro versions of console games. twin stick shooters are generally the same except they go back to arcade games like robotron instead of back to console platformers but again the fact that you said "twin stick" almost diretly points to consoles (since i remember having to hack my regular xbox controllers to be usb based i know twin sticks originated on consoles). while there are a couple (lets face it mostly trash, not all but most) racing games that are only on pc the vast majority of them are cross platform meaning ports (nfs, burnout, ridge racer, flatout) same for fighting games (playing them on EMULATORS doesnt mean they are pc games). if you remember playing fps's with just the keyboard you must remember how much it sucked, i remember trying to play mortal kombat with a keyboard and it was AWFUL.
funny how the "indie scene" is choosing to release games like fez (and alot of others sadly) on consoles FIRST.
i use ALOT of input devices.. i have an n52, a space pilot pro, a hydra, 2 flavors of rat 7, 3 kinds of steering wheels over the years and am waiting for leap motion to ship. the fact of the matter is the only kinds of games that are pc exclusive any more are strategy games (though xcom has probably ruined that forever). i play games with whatever device is intended to be used (no controllers for fps's) but every time i see that "press start" text flashing i know the game was made for consoles. this game doesnt move like a twin stick shooter, its significantly more complex than that despite the videos.
I agree on most things, except for the indie scene releasing stuff on consoles first, while it's true for Fez and some other games (but the devs often regretted the choice and went pc first for their next games) you just have to browse desura and steam and tigsource etc. and compare all the indie games you have on pc with those you have on consoles... :P
Anyway i like to have different platforms so i'd like to buy a desktop pc with a decent keyboard and stuff but right now i literally don't have a place to put it so i play games on a laptop and a psp (or x360 sometimes but thanks to pc ports i keep that just for skateboard games and Halos), and i avoid games that require key + mouse to be enjoyed except for some rare cases. Luckily i never was an online-pvp type of player so i don't really care about being cut out from competitive games...
Anyway, back to Broken Earth, i haven't tried it and it looks like a twin stick shooter, so i asked about gamepad support, if it has a gameplay which requires cursor aiming then it's clearly not the case, that's ok too, i'll play with other stuff, no big deal. :D
yea when you watch the video note the little circle, you aim with it. you can also sort of zoom in with sniper rifle things which puts the cursor technically off screen. you would have to have sprint, change weapons, zoom, grenade, and some other stuff mapped so you could use them WHILE using the sticks. it would be a mess in other words, so i can see why they didnt bother. people would just complain that the controller controls sucked (we know people).
