"Ars ignis” is the name given to a mysterious force, which is supposed to be a far stronger form of magic than the one used by common mages. It is believed by some people that “ars ignis” is tied to the creation of the world, being the fire in which the universe was forged. Some even say that the souls of men are in fact sparks of “ars ignis”, divided and passed from one generation to another, until they eventually wane and dissipate completely, thus marking the end of the world. All mages and wise men consider these to be mere legends or fairytales. All mages, except one.

Ars Ignis is a first person RPG that takes place in a living underground world inhabited by characters with their own motivations and ideas. Explore exciting areas, meet new people, cast spells and fight off different types of enemies. Strange animal species, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes will be a constant threat while traveling between the safe havens represented by large camps, cities, or small outposts. Most of the objects you come across in your journeys can be used in some way or interacted with, and the puzzles add an extra challenge.

Learn the craft of smithing and potion making, find yourself a cozy kitchen and master the art of cooking. If you're the Waltzing Matilda type get to know your surroundings and make hunting expeditions, with prizes ranging from basic animal skins to valuable trophies only the most dexterous can earn.

Ars Ignis attempts to come with a fast paced and dynamic combat experience, by not imposing serious limitations on what pieces of equipment can be used at any given time. Want to use the shadows to your benefits? Then sneak behind your enemy and twist that dagger in his ribs! Wish to confront him head on? Equip your heavy armor and start swinging your sword. Stay at a safe distance and fire arrows upon your foes, or simply freeze them with a magic spell and summon a magical creature to fight by your side and do the rest of the job.

One of the most impressive looking videos I've seen, it reminds me of Arx-Fatalis with way better graphics and concepts, tracking and good luck.

Thanks very much for tracking and appreciation! All of the graphics are placeholders taken from around the web. Later on, we'll replace each and every artwork with our own, much better looking versions.

Thanks for tracking! Yes, we are planning to take full advantage of Unity's cross platform support, so there will be Linux and Mac OS X versions as well, aside from the Windows one.
