COR Entertainment, LLC announces the release of Alien Arena 2008, a freeware, opensourced FPS.
This game is the followup to the critically acclaimed (Linux.com) Alien Arena 2007, and features nearly all new game media, gameplay improvements, and a client that has been significantly upgraded for improved visual effects as well as major optimizations that greatly improve the fluidity and performance.
Alien Arena 2008 also offers a change to it's overall theme, moving towards a slightly darker, more serious tone, while still retaining a good bit of it's retro style, creating an interesting marriage between classic and modern sci-fi. This resulted in completely new player models, many new weapon models and textures, and seventeen new levels.
There are major improvements in weapon effects, per-pixel lighting, texture resolution, and resource usage, as well as the addition of a cross platform server browser, FUSE. Weapons have been tweaked for better balance, and movement has been enhanced with the addition of dodging abilities. Alien Arena 2008 will run on Windows and Linux, and the OSX/Mac port will be released in one week.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I loved the SP versions of the game, I'd love to play another SP adventure.
What engine was used to make this game? You need to update your profile!
It was based off of Q2 and Q3, so I have put id tech 2 as the engine and updated the profile.

Wow dude, you don't let up do ya? LOL. Let me fill you in on a little history(and for others who are interested). CRX was originally written by myself and Victor Luchits(who wrote Qfusion) in 2002. Since then both engines were developed independently, with completely different purposes. Qfusion was primarily created as an engine that could be used as a mod base, that could use Quake 3 content and game code. CRX was developed in a more specific manner, with code that linked more to various items in the CodeRED series of games, and then eventually Alien Arena, and was never intended to be used by other games. One quick glance at the code shows that they are completely different engines(the only code they share at all is the light bloom code), that do not even run the same type of game code. I hope that helps clear thing up for you :)

It wasn't called Qfusion because of what I wrote above. Reading comprehension 101 please. As far as which engine is better, I didn't realize this was some kind of contest. Maybe if people like you(among others) didn't try to make it such, and trollbait projects like you're infamously famous for, there would be greater cohesion between game communities. I suggest you get a new perspective on this and grow up a little.
