A 2D sidescroller without a linear path. An action game with tactical combat and strategic planning. An adventure game that lets you free-roam a vast, procedurally-generated world. A Valley Without Wind defies genre stereotypes. Unlike other procedurally-generated games, you also get a logical progression in difficulty, plus helpful tips and checklists to guide your travels (should you need them).
A Valley Without Wind
Features
The game has hit version 1.0 and is available now via Steam, the Arcen Store, and other digital distributors.

Environ has been shattered in the wake of an unknown cataclysm, with only small pockets of humanity left in its wake... What will you do in this strange new world?
Enjoy A Valley Without Wind and many other great games on Desura.

A friend of mine wants to try the game, but his network is rather slow. It seemed to me that the demo was the same file as the full game, just minus the key. If I copied the installed game to an external drive, yould he be able to play the demo, or is the key stored in the game's directory?
I own this game through steam, Great game, clocked over 30hrs. I want to comment about things i think should be done but first i want to say that : PEOPLE PAY 50-60$ FOR GAMES THAT GIVE THEM 10HOURS AND THIS COST 15$. That bit of logic escapes everyone on steam.. idiots.. Any way.. #1 make this game just like terraria in terms of crafting and digging. the game employs artful sprites but also big blocks.. Make the block unit size 1/4 then we could feasably dig in it, then radomization of levels doesnt get anyone stuck. plus building is fun and minerals can be attaineed this way too. The key here is 1/4 block size digging or not!!
Second make it like civ. lol I read all the posts beta info etc.. i know about the strategy map! lol SPORE was a great idea.. this feel similar ..just not about life.. where spore failed was i should have been able to go into each planet and re enter civ mode , technically i could re enter cities but.. for what.. each level up one get the previous is meaningless in spore.. AVWW suffers from this a bit but all it needs is continual scalability, meaning i can play a man, and a planner from several tiers. If in AVWW i am not a glyff bearer.. than i am the energy which moves between them, which means i should beable to do everything i can in reigion map that i can in the side scroller settlement area. Then eventually we could start fixing these planets.. and sharing them... as we venture into space lol.. love the scope.. Arcen i got my eye on you! :) 8/10
Is a GNU/Linux version planned?
Only if they deploy a Chrome Native Client, I'm afraid...
Well it's an Unity engine and so far they don't support linux.
The GamersGate version is listed as having "Other DRM". Does the Desura version have any form of DRM?
One of the developer's here. Yeah, the only 'DRM' in our games is the simple licence key. The game will work across multiple platforms.
I think "The Other DRM" is simply a serial key with no caveats, so you are safe either way.
Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I just played the demo earlier today and saw it ask for a key to unlock the full version. :/
I did enjoy playing through the demo, though. For the most part, anyway. Lots of great ideas, with shades of Metroid, Castlevania, Terraria, and so on, in there, but for some reason, I just didn't really care for it all that much. Definitely not fond of the art style at all, I'm afraid, but the music certainly did much to make up for that. I can't say I see myself picking this one up any time soon, but if I'm lucky, maybe an Indie Royale in the future will coerce me into taking a second look. :P
Pardon me, but what's wrong with an offline serial? Back up code with game, never need the internet again.
