"A Demon's Game" is a very unique title, but keeps true to it's horror roots, the game focuses on creating a terrifying atmosphere, rewarding exploration, and engrossing players in the rich lore of its world, moving away from the trend of incessant jump scares and low production quality is our main goal.

Whenever you start making a game and get really into it, you constantly start thinking about stuff you can do to make the game unique, better and more enjoyable. Lately I thought of a few ideas that could be cool (IMO) to see in the game.

Collectibles:

Not your normal type of collectibles, these collectibles have to do with the storyline of the game and are your reward for exploring the whole level.
Since I'm putting in extra time on making the levels standout and feel unique I thought this element could be beneficial to the game, at the end of each level there would be a screen showing how many of each thing you got.
Example: (From Dishonored)

Instead of Runes it would be Notes, instead of Bone Charms it would be secrets, instead of Outsider Shrines it would be Audio logs, things like that.
I thought of adding in this weird little element of competition in the form of "gold", and you would battle with other people that played the game to see who got the most gold in their playthrough, but now that I look at it, it doesn't fit in a horror game.

Multiple Paths and Endings.

This one is a no-brainer, I mean, everyone loves choosing their way to do things, but the way I imagined it was a little different from the usual "click x to save person or y to kill person" type of deal.
For example:
Player is currently in the caves. If he decides to go down, he will go to the second part of the caves, or he decides to go up he will end up in the mines. The game will also take into account how many demons you kill and how many you run away from. For example, let's say there's 4 demons, you kill 2 of them, you get the neutral ending. If you kill 3 you get the good ending, if you kill 4 you get the best ending, and if you kill 1 or none you get the bad ending.

Thoughts?

I personally hate collectibles since they feel like a burden on the player to find them all but multiple endings is amaaaaaazing, gives you a reason to replay the game and also get more content!
If you go with collectibles don't go crazy on it, too many collectibles = Wolfenstein New Order... still need to finish that game XD
