What do you love and hate about Pokemon? Thread

I'm thinking about making a Pokemon mod based around the feudal times of Japan, when capturing Pokemon and having them fight was just getting started. There's a few ideas I had with it, you kill wild pokemon, wild pokemon kill you, there are no Pokémon centres or Pokémon marts, you have to sleep in inns and use things you salvage in the wild. You have 2 rivals, older brother younger sister, older brother picks his pokemon first, no TM's or HM's, you have to go to the person and they will take a day to train a pokemon with the move you want. You have to make pokeballs out of apricots and they cost money. People buy and sell pokemon as animals, and there are side quests were you have to exterminate pokemon. All Legendaries (or most) exist, however you wont be able to capture all of them. Your rivals will capture some of them and others will be used to battle by end game trainers.So what do you guys think, is it worth trying to make it, anything you want to add or wouldn't want to see in it? Should I even be talking about it on this site?

Sounds good to me and I hate Pokemon - but I really would suggest you read the Copyright infringement thread. Nintendo would cook your ass for this.

Your story sounds very, very interesting and it really stands out from all the other Pokemon games. Congrats As for changing something, well, it is well written and nothing bugs me. The only thing that I find annoying is the many, maaany and even more ugly new Pokemon Nintendo keeps flushing out. But that's none of your problem. Also, it would be nice if in your game/mod you'll explain if there are real animals in the world, or if they co-exist with Pokemon, or there are only Pokemon.

As for the copyright infringement Half-Rats mentioned, I have no idea, but you could ask some of the developers in IndeDB, who make Pokemon-based games like these (random) ones Indiedb.com and Indiedb.com.

Well i plan on cutting out a lot of pokemon, mostly everything after third generation with a few special cases that are excepted. Well i plan to do it as a free game, something to just say yes I created it, go and see what was done.
A bit more on the story, your father is a famous pokemon tamer and the shogun wants to see the very best compete for his entertainment. To ensure that only the best come before him he sets up challenges that the players must complete in order to be admitted, ie the gyms. However not everything is hunky dory in this world, as the feudal lords are still trying to kill each other for dominance. The twist is now that there exists a way for pokemon to be captured and trained, the feudal lords want to use them as tools of war. They send their samurai out to take all pokemon from every trainer they encounter so that their army has a greater chance of victory.
I have a rough idea of what the story is and were you go through up until you get your first badge. But yes, pokemon are animals in this world, and would be used for everything that their real world counterparts would be in addition to fighting one another.
