How do I delete "archive-only" files? | Locked | |

I just noticed this a few hours ago and have no idea how long this feature has actually existed, but is there a way to fully delete old files and addons instead of 'archiving' them like you used to be able to? I've viewed our addons page logged out and in incognito mode and they are still listed there publicly contrary to what I've read about the button. Because of the rather chaotic nature of how a lot of our mod's users like to use multiple addons this will cause us a lot of unnecessary questions and crash reports where they are downloading redundant versions. If somebody knows of a way around this to delete old files or if Moddb staff could do something about it that would be pretty sweet. |

We've had a big issue lately with deleted files causing confusion for visitors who are sent here to get a download only to find it deleted. So we thought an "archive" option with a warning was more fitting. Happy to consider changes, i.e. archived files are hidden, or make it a 2 step process (archive -> then delete files if you really want them deleted). For historical reasons we highly recommend old files are archived, but obviously greatly appreciate input from developers such as you, to ensure we do what you desire -- Scott Reismanis |

Maybe adding a tooltip or explanation of what they do would be nice too though. Yesterday me and other members of the team I'm with were having a bit of a moan as we intend to replace all of our downloads with new links (our next release will be a re-release), our only work-around for the time-being is to move the links off of our mod page and on to our team page to hide them, and then ask you guys to delete them later. Removing the delete option is really not ideal for everybody. For some other mods like A Clash of Kings (a mod I love by the way) which will probably never be incompatible with the base game, an archive feature is great as people might prefer an old and still compatible version But for others like ours where updates are released quite frequently and even something slightly old can cause crashes - not so much. As you can see here: Moddb.com we have 94 community addons already for multiple different versions of the mod (some just need to be updated, others are just dead and already cause us headaches) which will mean endless comments, private messages, and spam on our forums about crashes we could fix by removing them. Please reconsider this idea and restore the delete button. Thanks in advance Edit: Grammar, typos etc. Edited by: Darryl123 |

I'm going to make it so files are firstly archived, then once they are archived you can delete them. We still advise against deleting even old and potentially incompatible files, as there might be users still seeking those files for older versions, but understand your need to still delete content. -- Scott Reismanis |

Good point, you should unpin first! -- Scott Reismanis |
