I hesitated to write this blog post as I hate to have to write depressingly boring posts with nothing interesting to say, but I’ll try to make this one interesting with a few new screenshots.

The TLDR is:

IRL, I have been swamped, overworked and a little fed up. I took a little time off for my birthday to try and recover, which helped. I still haven’t had much time lately to really sink my teeth into any substantial development for Underhell UE4.

So in terms of bug fixes, progressing the demo I don’t really have anything new to tell you from last time because I haven’t really been able to make much progress with the limited time I have. I will still try to kick things back into gear again soon.

To make this post a little more interesting, I did actually make a portion of Chapter 2 as a test (only the first room) as I try to shift my workflow into building levels with modular meshes, so this was a bit of a test for me. I previously used brushes to build the levels and would later export and make models out of them but this was mainly because of how complex and unique the prison was. An office area such as this is much easier for me to play around with.

This does not mean that Chapter 2 is playable or will be released or is being worked on.

Another reason to develop this little area was to test the level transition piece that I had worked on recently but also, just for fun.

As you can see, it’s still basic layout but I do enjoy the thought of seeing a city environment again after spending so long with the Prison maps.

Take care of yourselves! I’ll be back again soon and I’ll try to work on some of the core issues and blockers that are affecting a demo release.
