Post news Report RSS RUIN continues its evolution, becoming a "fear simulator"

The game hits its stride when design changes are made mid development.

What began as a homage to a generation to a time of forgotten titles may become the first to progress into something much more.

RUIN, an indie title in development by LowLit Studios, LLC, is becoming something more complex than an RPG or a stealth game. It has slowly become a "fear simulator".

What does this mean? We want to prey on the anxiety of players by creating immersion in realistic ways. When you read a note, your character will hold it in their hand. When you know something is wrong, and something is close, your heart will beat and your screen will pulse. When you see the enemy, you will breathe heavily. When you are out of sight, and cannot be heard, you will become that, next to invisible. When you fight, you will grow stronger, giving and taking more blows. Goals will be shown to the player through the environment instead of through a map or the player HUD. The game will instead provide natural ways of showing the player where to go using different light sources.

RUIN will not have any typical GUI, maps or otherwise, instead we want to tell you any story and scare you in a way you haven't seen before. We will show you soon what this means.

It means a lot to hear that! It may be a while before we post anything else, but the next thing you'll see is more than likely gameplay!
