No, I'm not dead, i've been hard at work remaking the game from scratch, as there was so much more I should have done in terms of optimization and implementing cleaner code, ideas and changing the art style to something much more suiting.

Yep, as the summary states I have been hard at work getting everything up to scratch, and I am pleased to say that it has been worth it, the screenshots below show the current state of the game, there's still a long way to go, but we're getting there!
