Hello, IndieDB community !
Welcome to our thirteenth article of our game: “Bracara Augusta: Shadow of the Past”. Today we are going to show you our game special puzzles.
Since we have been working with Roman ruins we decided to add some Roman mosaics, but we've encountered an issue.
The city of Braga is characterized by having a slightly acidic soil, which means that mosaics are very rare, since the soil dissolved the limestone of the mosaics.
Thankfully there were some mosaics that still exist. One of them is from the Museum D.Diogo de Sousa and the other is from the Cloister of the Conciliar Seminary of S. Peter and S. Paul.

Mosaic to pixel
With these references we created two mosaics: one for a little room and another for an important room.
We decided to make a simplified version of the mosaics but, at the same time, tried to imitate the texture of the tiny pieces of the mosaic.
With this in mind, these are the two mosaics created to use in our game:

A Puzzle for the mosaics
For the puzzles with the mosaics, we wanted to make a visual puzzle, something related to perspective.
With this in mind we created some rocks that could be pushed in the mosaic. The objective of the player is to align them with the mosaic picture bellow.
The rocks have a more saturated and luminous colour, when compared with the mosaic.

We are currently developing a build of the game for testing that we will post in our Itch.io page.
But on the meantime:
Have a nice week
Ave Bracara Augusta
