[Update] Design Doc Available; Development has hit a snag, Turbo run needs programmers.

[UPDATE] Turbo Run Design Doc #1
Preliminary Design Doc now available.

Well, We have graphics, and we have music, but we have no game. After weeks of scouring the internet for any programmers (Unity or otherwise) interested in in getting an engine together and working with us, I have come up empty handed. Development will continue, but at a much slower pace. Its hard to make assets for a game when you don't actually have a game to put them in. While the search continues we will be pumping at more cars and tracks and music, but unfortunately any working demos or in-game images are very, very far off.

I suggest writing exactly how you'd like the game to work to give some structure for the future programmer. They don't want to join your team and find out you still have planning to do even though you have all these assets.
Personally, I'd be more willing to join if I just came, coded the game and then left. Sadly, I'm out of free time :(

PS: Good luck in finding a programmer and finishing this project, I like the art style!

I'm a programmer, but not an experienced game programmer. Don't think I can help though. I know nothing of programming games. I'm also a first year in college so yeah. :P

Would have helped you guys, but I know I would just waste your time.

I love the art style! I totally would want to do it for my game (https://www.indiedb.com/games/her-majestys-royal-space-armada), but I don't have the pixel art and UV unwrapping chops for it. I might be able to help, at the very least I am curious about your art workflow.

I agree with iredescent, it's unclear from what I can find what precisely you want to do for the game. Please PM me with some kind of materials (a design doc is fine though I personally hate them ... but some random notes are great!). It looks like a project that has a tight focus and wouldn't blow up into something giant and unfinishable.

look, if you guys have reached a stop since you haven't found help, you must have more free time now.

I suggest you to start learning some Game Maker and start prototyping it yourselves. This could get some more people excited and attract more help. Game Maker 8 is so easy to use anyway. It will give you so much... since you'll know better how to ask things for your future programmers.

A design doc does seem to be the best route, shouldn't be too hard to come up with one; I have the games idea pretty well fleshed out.
@nihilocrat Check out Forums.tigsource.com
I've never used it but if you have trouble with UVmaps this may come in handy.

Thanks for the input everyone

@Kenseidan - While Game Maker is a useful program, it's not 3D-optimized. Also, I don't believe you can import 3D models into it.

@Delko - As to the problem at hand, I would recommend learning to use the Blender Game Engine, which is a very, very easy game engine to use, and you can also program easily using Python. It's also present in the Blender 3D modeler, meaning easy use of assets in the game engine - the same models in the modeler can be used in the game engine.

If you want to ask for help, post a request on the BlenderArtists forum - if you post the screenshots that you have here, you probably will have programmers lining up to help. I would like to help as well, but I don't have much time, in addition to having my own projects to deal with.

I'm sorry I didn't know it was 3D. Still, my point stands. I saw uncountable 3D design engine available in this very site anyway.

Since all I'm suggesting is for some of you to prototype your game, all you have to do is to get the easyest engine possible and start from it.

I don't work with 3D at all (yet), so please take my humble advice with a grain of salt.
