Hello! There's a known workaround: it's to extract all the VPKs from both Half Life 2: Episode 1 and Half Life 2: Episode 2 into the mod folder. It seems like something about how VPK files are linked has changed since I authored this mod. Sorry for the issues!
Yeah there is a goal zone, kinda like the party balls in Monkey Ball.
There are no coins/completion tokens (though there are some items in the world :P)
I'm sort of on hiatus right now from modding, but I still have ideas/might make things in the future.
Do you have Half Life 2 Episode 2 installed? That, and maybe Ep1, is required. If you had to modify gameinfo.txt you might have overridden that requirement. Not really sure, been a long time.
Thanks for playing goose053! I think we did a much more... refined job on our second mod, (which is here: Moddb.com ). It is about 2 hours long :P
I'm really happy to see people still enjoying the mod :)!
You need to crouch to get through. I'm glad people are still enjoying this mod :). You should check out the second one we made though (The Great Forever Tomorrow), it's way better.
Yeah, sorry about that. Here is a youtube version of the second one (different pianist) Youtube.com , it would seem to be composed by Franz Liszt. Ballade Cut is called that because it's a cut down version of a recording handed off to me with file name "Ballade No. 2 in F". I could email you the full version of the recording used in the mod/get you the email of the pianist, if you want.
Hey, thanks for playing the mod & the kind words. Our next mod is in development and is planned to have those features you talked about (many more custom models, better/less bad voice acting). Going is kinda slow, real life has gotten all "work requiring" on us, the developers. Something at some point will definitely come out though; there are a few levels already done for example.
Thanks for the input CdeathJD. I think you missed the boss, there are 2 endings, one if you fight the boss before going through that last teleporter and one if you don't (they are both text, but it is different text at least). Originally there were going to be CG outros but that was cut (there was also going to be a CG intro, which got all the way to storyboarding). While on the topic of cut things, the combine repeater gun was going to look like a minigun (this was modeled, but it was not animated, UV mapped, or textured).
Anyways, as for the voice acting, you are right. I pretty much just grabbed people who were around and used a crummy mic. We are in fact in the early stages of our third project, another singleplayer HL2 episode 2 mod (currently untitled and not on Moddb yet). We are trying to expand our team, and would love to have a dedicated audio person: I'm the main mapper, and would love to have someone who actually knows about audio to help with that section of the project. If nothing else we could definitely use a voice actor. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to help out on our next project.
Thanks for playing the mod!
Thanks for the input klichka :). During the development of the later, more colorful, parts of the mod, I (being the maker of these levels) was more thinking in terms of making them "vibrant" than actually surreal. This said, I agree with you: it certainly would be more powerful had it a more genuinely surreal edge. Perhaps we'll explore that in a later project.
Indeed you do.
Hey guys, nice work on the podcast.
By the way, to defeat the manahcks in the final boss of The Great Forever Tommorow, just herd them into a could via sprinting and then fire an explosive, such as a rocket or smg alt fire grenade, into them/ onto the ground right below them. This works on the rollermines as well.
Thanks for playing/talking about my mod!
The gun being held in this picture is a laser gun.
that means you are missing textures... do you have half life 2 episode 2 installed and is it working properly?
(map maker here)
hint (spoiler): it involves the crowbar, the floor, and the left mouse button.
Nevermind everybody, I got it working via upload from url. :)
I'm having some trouble uploading at the moment... it says "Error Upload Cancelled Try Again" every time I try to upload my mod. I am trying to upload from my computer.
We just got through the last of the issues, we are hoping to launch as soon as tomorrow... (almost in January...)
Yeah, sorry about that. We are hard at work on it presently. I can't really give a date, but we've gotten through most of the issues and it should certainly be complete in January. (And when I say complete, I mean version 1.0 not an alpha).
I found online tutorials to be a great starting point, but now i mostly just use online stuff for reference.
yeah, me too. Maybe next time?
...but we are adding new models, they just aren't finished yet.
For anyone who is a fan of this mod, may I point your attention to our new project, at Moddb.com
As for new weapons, we would looove to, and are looking into it, but no guarantees.
v1.1 fixes the error discussed above.
I did. Furthermore, the licensing terms specifically allow you to reuse the music as long as citation is given, and the resulting product is non-commercial. I appreciate the sentiment of your concern, as the musicians deserve credit.
thanks a ton for pointing that out to me danm36!
door which falls down? do you mean the squisher? thats a puzzle, you have to sprint to make it.
save files that are not in the last level should work in either version. The only change is the final level itself. If you want, you can always noclip to were you left off. Also, you scared me Darkcraft :P
I'm going to release a fixed version tonight, sorry so much for the bug in the final level. I didn't realize it was there.
