It's important to note that the Hardpoints determine almost everything about the ship. It's not just weapons, it's sensors, shields, warp core, bridge, engines, warp drive, and hull plating.

It's a lot of data to manage with a single editor.

Stop scolding DICE on this. The way their content creation works is that it gets faster and easier the more people they have working on it. Furthermore, the whole shabang needs a pretty hefty IT infrastructure to run properly; and all but the biggest and most well funded modding teams could even dream of running it.

Just read this man's link. There's no doubt that the PR guy put things in a negative light when it comes to modder's abilities, but the reality is that it's not because modders are stupid, it's because modders are small groups with little to no budget. Also, having DICE work on the tools they have to make them mod friendly would take a lot of time and resources...

I'd rather that be spent on the base game really.
