When I was a kid, all I had was a crummy Mac computer with a disk called Mac Action games. On this disk, there was Gold Digger (which is kind of a total rip-off of loderunner), Catacombs, Wolfenstein 3D, Space Station: Pheta, and other games of the like. All of these games had level editors that I would use to create my own levels that I could enjoy watching other people play. I became the entertainer, and that brought me immense joy. Later I would move on to making levels for Jazz Jackrabbit, move on to making RPG's on RPG Maker 2000, and finally found my way to making stand-alone games, opposed of mods. That's not to say that I don't still mod. That's what I'm doing here, is modding. I still, from time to time, dabble in Doom 2 modding, Half-Life modding (to a tiny extent) and Half-Life 2 modding (of which I'm actually hardly good at, and I am still trying to learn how to better my knowledge of that base). I hope that I am greeted here with open arms, as I would accept you.

They call me Dunkelschwamm
I've killed more CT's than Saddam
The servers would fear
To see my name appear
They know not to go near the bomb

I was prone to the bunny hop
My score went straight to the top
My friend got mad
And spent all he had
To kill me with an AWP

The Para is my favorite gun
But lordy, it weighs a ton
It fires so loud
As I aim at a crowd
Missed every shot but it was fun!

Honestly it kinda looks like something I would see in Myst, which isn't necessarily a good thing. Of course, since it's just an environment model I don't think it would matter much and isn't really worth spending time analyzing.

I think it's a great PR stunt and all but... Bethesda kinda owns id and id employees are generally the best Quake 3 players on Earth. I really, really don't expect this to end in Mojang's victory if they go through with this, even though I really, really hope that Mojang wins the lawsuit.

yardymothymus - - 148 comments @ Diablo 3 not supporting mods

I've been kinda on the fence about this one for a while. On one hand, Diablo 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. On the other hand, the only people working on Diablo 3 are the people working on the shittiest aspects of the rest of the Blizzard games. This is kind of the straw that broke the camel's back.

I'm not going to buy it as the only aspects that I was excited to see are not going to be included. I'm not going to pirate it either, because I really feel no need to play a game that I wouldn't pay money for. Blizzard insists on widening the gap between the player and the developer, and that is the opposite of what I want to see. From here on out I'm refraining from buying (or pirating) any Blizzard products. They'll still make money, but they're not getting any from me until they change their stance on what gaming is about. This probably won't put a dent in their earnings or be significant in any way, but I'll be content with myself knowing that I'm not supporting their disrespectful attitude towards the communities of gamers who keep giving them chances.

This was absolutely amazing. It surpassed every expectation I had and has more soul and thought in it than any games I've played recently. A+, great mod and a must play.

Gasmasks that look exactly like that exist and work rather well, they're just made out of soft stuff so they can bend when somebody turns their head. It still does look rather goofy though.

I agree with the comments above; really looking forward to this mod being made, but this has made JohnStuart look incredibly unprofessional and egotistical. Somebody saying "I deserve massive ammounts of credit" never bodes well... the overall tone of the conversation had the same vibe as somebody trying to talk to a loved one addicted to crack who immediately snaps back with defensiveness and hostility, throwing rationality and civility out the window into a puddle where maybe some homeless man will find it and pawn it for booze.

Overall it feels dangerous to put somebody like this in any position of power, even if it's just leader of a mod team, as it may give them too much illusion of entitlement and cause them to hurt everybody around them.

This is very distressing.

Since you have both Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny content planned for this mod, will you be including the Mac Family levels as well? I remember particularly enjoying some of the levels in it that I would love to co-op with some friends on.

Also, it sounds like making maps for this would be fun, so I might give it a shot.

I remember the original opening for Half-Life 2 which opens with a Gargantua getting destroyed when a razor train crashes through it. That's what I think of what I see the blood on the front of this. Keep up the excellent work!

It still really doesn't look right to me, but I guess that's alright since it's the player model and thus the one I'll be looking at the least in-game. Keep up the good work!

Genius! A scope that see from a different angle and position all together! Heck, if you can make it shoot that way too then I'd say that that's a feature, not a glitch!

I don't know what you're talking about. That sounds AWESOME!

Backstory seems impractical, but so does Doom's, Wolfenstein's, Resident Evil's, Silent Hill's, Half-Life's, Halo's, Army of Two's, Uncharted's, etc. The list goes on and on. Would an interplanetary weapons lab build teleporters to hell using technology from a civilization on Mars? Would the OSS send a single spy to Germany to take on an entire city's worth of Nazi infantry using experimental, alien weapons?

The way I see it, the backstory is probably more realistic than most backstory on the Command and Conquer: Red Alert series of games. I like it, screw keeping it completely realistic, I doubt that this mod is supposed to double as a Cold War history class.

Well, they put the sights of a gun on the top for a reason... aiming this way wouldn't give you much control over where your bullet goes at all besides general direction. Also it would be annoying ingame considering that it covers most of your right peripheral making it harder to see.

But being the humorless ******* that I am aside, great for a comedy pic and looks like it would work pretty well ingame (aside from my remarks above, of course). Also the first time I think I've seen the HL2 pistol used like that, so there's an originality bonus.

I find that the smaller a spider is, the more I'm afraid of it, because it's more stealthy and scrawny and it's hard to see them till they're just about to bite you. That's just my own fear though...

This spider model is great, probably one of the best I've seen in a long, long time. The realism is stunning! Keep up the awesome work!
