ah, installed and fixed.

Something thats bothering me (haven't got all that far) is that the Obrez is more accurate than a full length Nagant? at least it says that in the stats.

I was firing at the three man military patrol with it and was able to hit them with ease from a fair distance.

Also, people don't seem to get healed from medkits (gave one to Tolik) but i had to give him like two more for him to get up.

yup, repeatable bug.

Went to loot a corpse and upon trying to take a rifle (Looks like an SKS or a G43) game crashes.

I don't have the error log, but the game crashed after the fight with the bandits in the Car park, I went to loot a corpse and upon trying to take what looked like an SKS the game crashed.

I also put full dynamic lighting on and everything is blurry as hell, it's a bit over the top in my opinion.

Managed to get this to work with my boxed copy and it's kind of cool, though the novelty may wear off.

The no HUD stuff is manageable (Count your shots, bandage immediately etc) and is meant to promote a more realistic style of gameplay i.e. try not to get shot from what I can see.

I'm quite liking the magazine system, though its a bit confusing:

How do I reload magazines?

I'm split on the in-ability to do tactical reloads. It's kind of cool because it makes you plan ahead and count your shots but can still be slightly annoying. Was it left out due to engine limitations, or was it an intentional decision?

Well yeh, they really just weren't prepared for the situation and everything was ad-hoc at best.

I remember watching a documentary about it and it talked about how when the lower levels started to flood, they had to send divers down into the highly irradiated water in order to prevent another catastrophe (Think it may have been to do with super-heated steam) which was basically a death-sentence for them due to the extreme levels of radiation.

Scary stuff.

They'd have a shitload of angry fans to deal with if they did even the slightest thing to mess up LA. I don't mean to sound like the voice of doom, but as I say, the company seems to have changed a bit.

So, LA could wind up being a paid for product?

I don't mean to sound negative as i've requested this very thing in the past and would be glad to pay for it as it's officially endorsed and GSC have given you access to stuff other modders don't have, combined with the monumental amount of work you've put in. I just hope they don't do anything to jam up the works or needlessly complicate things, the company seems to have changed a bit.

Also, will people modding LA have the same amount of access to the engine you've had during it's development or is that strictly just for your team as it stands?

I don't know how you guys are for animators and what not, but it'd be cool if the weapons were as detailed as they were in the HL1 mod 'The trenches' i.e. reload animations for each number of rounds in magazine for bolt action rifles etc:

Unless I misread and this is something you're doing , it'd be good if you gave AK's varying qualities (i.e. they'd been reassembled with different parts) meaning a trip to the mchanic could be very beneficial, combined with the fact their ammo is more common than other rifles (though you could get lucky and find one that had semi decent parts).

This is just it though, you have packs like gnomus scope pack etc, but because of engine limitations, no ones ever done 3D scopes (and I know there are a fair few people who'd like to see them in Stalker).

I don't know what the situation is, but the reason I ask here is because these guys have access to the source code and could possibly implement them and I doubt they'd be willing to share that with others who'd like to give something like i've suggested a try as by the sounds of things they don't want to do it/possible legal ramifications/nda's.

Somethings just occured to me, with you having access to the engine and all, could you make 3D scopes (like the ones in RO1/2) for weapons?

Probably not high on your priority list and maybe you don't want to do this in order to retain the old 'feel' but it would be possible wouldn't it?

Thanks for considering my suggestion!

I can't find a screenshot of it, but if you play the 1935 version of Garbage, that has some cool deformed terrain with various props that have fallen in and whatnot, which is basically what I was thinking for this section.

(Not the section i'm thinking of, but it's near that place I think).

I was kind of thinking a few smalller holes throughout the yard and maybe one big crack like this, the majority of which would be traversable.

Looking forward to your next iteration of the map.

Fair points regarding the 'lore' of the game, the reason I say to deform the terrain a bit is that it may make this area more gameplay friendly and would break things up a bit visually.

It'd be easy enough to write a back story for the reasoning aswell, like the high content of metal in this area/the tower attracted electrical storms/anomalies during the second explosion or something, hence the deformation. Speaking of that tower, it'd be cool if it had fallen and you turned it into a bridge across a gap or something.
