Not only that, but having chosen dragon I of course pull mostly technocrat cards. I feel like I'm swimming in quicksand trying to reach a point where I can even begin to put together a deck with some sort of strategic theme like air assault or low-cost unit spam or something.

Sound idea or not, how cards are awarded is yet another thing that should be explained in the manual AND in-game.

Just to second the above, I found the in-game tutorial nearly worthless. At no point am I shown how a real game might play out, it's like I'm being read out-of-context bits of the manual and being told what to click. I already know how to use my mouse and the manual clarifies HUGE gaps that the tutorial leaves so.. why have it?
