@operator-23: Today is my first time to hear about either of these games and I must say I truly do not think you have been "copied". The interface is not very similar to your game. The icons are similar but it is because they are basic geometric shapes that have existed as alchemical symbols for ages!

I think you are overreacting and your passive aggressive comment comes off as petty.

Baseless vitriol aside, let's examine your points. Libs that have been dynamically linked against can have their .dlls placed in the same folder as the executable. Easy, and no admin rights needed. The only hitch here would be things like XNA and DirectX. Since video card drivers come with the latest DX, developers shouldn't worry much about this. XNA is a problem since it is not as widely distributed, but packaging the redistributable should be enough.

The roaming data folder doesn't make much sense.. how many gamers are going to need their config files propagated through a network? As far as unprofessional, I have to disagree. Personally when I see an installer I see an extra annoyance and nothing more. I do my best to try most indie games I come across, and I'd prefer it if every one didn't take a crap in my start menu and registry.

I realize this is a lot of hot air over a few mouse clicks, but a game launch is a fragile thing and devs need to know about possible causes of annoyance. With thousands of free games a few clicks away, any barrier between the user and playing is potentially fatal. A simple compromise here is to offer two downloads: a setup file and an archive. Make the setup file more prominent, so users without a preference will go for it first. Choice is a good thing -- the concept runs deep in the PC crowd.

Why use an installer for a small game? Please just distribute it as a zip archive. It is much faster to get to the action and delete it if necessary.

the third screenshot is amazing.

i'm gonna have to agree with cheesemoo0. on your personal blog or something this post would be fine, but on moddb people get ****** when you waste their time with updates like these.

I redownloaded and gave the game another go... there may be countless improvements to the engine, but the worst part about the game still exists -- the playerbase. Out of the handful of matches I tried, every one ended with a stacked team and utter humiliating defeat, complete with players constantly bitching about how their team sucks. Not very fun. This is really more of a problem with public servers I suppose, but this is what the game looks like to a casual player. Maybe it was a bad time of day, /shrug

Yes, actually, I was forced to look at this since it is on the front page of a site I visit often. A site that normally has quality standards. I'm not trying to dissuade you from continuing a mod, just consider what others will think of your images before posting it to a popular site. We're a little spoiled by high-quality work if you can't tell.

I hope, for your sake, these won't be included in the dossier you show to the Project Offset development team in an attempt to license their engine.

There should really be a filter for this kind of stuff.

Its terrible. The first picture is a generic knight, while the second looks like the creature from Neverending Story, on fire. I commend you guys for putting forth the effort to make a mod, but please keep it to yourself until you have something decent to show for it. You'll save yourselves a lot of negative feedback.
