This might be more of an aesthetic thing, but I personally feel like the rifles should be a little bigger. Right now they look like these thin straws in the hands of the soldiers. They really should be just as thick as their vanilla game carbine versions, just longer. This is probably more so the case with the G98s than the SMLEs.

That being said, I'm loving it. Thank you guys so much for surrendering so much of your free time to bring this to us!

Since there's already plenty of French imagery in the menus and UI, what are the odds we'll get to see the Frogs fight the Boche within the foreseeable future? And maybe the Austro-Hungarians for the Central Powers?

Did anyone try the mod with v1.02 yet? Does it work?

Yeah, that's what I thought. But that mode doesn't show up for me in skirmish. Haven't tried MP.

So is there some way to play hardcore mode in skirmish? I don't seem to be able to find how to activate it. I only see the regular victory conditions, not the new 'hardcore' one.

Any chance we'll see character models (even WIP ones) anytime soon?

The only thing(s) that looks a little odd here are the rifles. They seem awfully slim.

They didn't. They primarily wore them in plain beige or olive drab. Alternatively they also wrote the Luftwaffe-style blue-ish jackets.

So, your comment right at the beginning of the newest post confuses me. You state that the Germans are done and that only the B.E.F. and buildings require more work. Is that only in reference to the art/animation assets, or are you already far enough with the balancing to release a beta soon?

Feel free to see it as a compliment, but I find it extremely hard to believe that this is the product of only 2 people. This mod came almost out of nowhere and appears to feature tons of new skins, vehicles and seemingly entire units with custom animations, going by the gameplay video.
The 'Eastern Front' - and basically all other CoH mods - took a very long time to get only a fraction of this stuff into their projects.

Lastly, your English seems to pretty damn good - how come you didn't notice from the get-go how offensive the original title would be to some people?
As far as the government support goes - wouldn't be the first time a government ****** up, just look at the US policies 2000-2008...

So is this Mod directly sponsored by the CCP? I don't know why, but that was one of the first things I thought when I saw this mod - especially with the old title.
The new one isn't as aggressive but still...

I'll have to say I'm a bit saddened that, owning only Warband and not regular M&B, I can't play as the Holy Roman Empire. Is that one of the factions still on its way to the game? It seems a little bit weird that there's this huge empty spot between Denmark and Western Europe.
Also, no Italian states? I don't quite understand it, they are in the regular version, aren't they?

He's using the still-in-use symbol of the Finnish Air Force. As such, not a banned symbol and not associated with Nazism.
There is of course still a sour taste to, simply because it is so close to the German swastika.

Ha, I guess it speaks for the great art direction when I can tell the role of a unit by its appearance!

Maybe you already have, but you should definitely check out Ernst Junger's 'Storm of Steel' - an unequaled WWI memoir.
Some online links that may be of interest for you guys:
"Sniping in France" by Major Hesketh-Prichard (Memoir Extract)

"A Survey of German Tactics 1918" (Historical Section, General Staff Tactical Studies, No. 1)

Probably already a bit late in your developmental process, but it may be interesting for you nonetheless. For whatever reason I think you may be interested in WWI...

Maybe I missed something, but will there be a direct German equivalent to the British trench raiders? Because, just going by design, the German Stosstruppen look more like an assault unit, while the Raiders look like a Stealth unit.

Love the work you've been doing so far, can't wait to play it!

Would it be possible for you to link to the poem in German? There's a few word choices that I find a little bit strange (Example: 'Sign of the Hawk' when the German's emblem was that of an eagle). I'd love to double-check it.

So you're using the Magpul MOE stock for the M4? Any other Magpul/MOE parts going to be featured in the mod?

Are you ready to release a list of featured weapons?

Also, will a player be able to choose between different characters (such as Counterstrike), or will there be a fixed character for each class?

Going by the images, I assume it will be Americans vs Russians?

Hey, this might be a little late in the progress, but if you want, I own a scoped civ M14 (M1A), fitted with a tri-rail and scope.
At request I can send you pictures for a more detailed model.

Just a suggestion, but the Gebirgsjaeger tended to use different color uniforms from the rest of the Wehrmacht for most of their campaigns. Those were either beige/sand color or of a more green-ish shade.

Overall, just changing the color of the uniform would be an effective way of distinguishing them as Gebirgsjaeger as opposed to general infantry.

A little bit dark, isn't it? As far as I know, even after the abandonment of the Red/Blue uniforms the French continued to use darker blue uniforms and blue/cyan helmets.

There would still be rank insignia on the shoulderboards and the collar.
Additionally, a peaked cap could be worn optionally but rarely was. Among the Luftwaffe it was typically only Pilots and Ground Personnel Officers who wore the peaked caps.

It's supposed to be Oberst Steiner from "The Eagle has Landed" (played by Michael Caine).

Not to **** in the modeller's parade, but in the film they intentionally chose the wrong uniform to make him stand out. He's basically wearing a pilot's attire, not that of a Paratrooper Officer.

Officers wore basically the same blue Luftwaffe dress uniform as common soldiers, including a basic Schiffchen (forage cap?). In battle they would wear the same as everyone else (wouldn't want to stand out to these pesky snipers, would you?).

Well I'm aware they were a lot slower than the real King Tiger, but the one in CoH is already painfully slow. If they made it even slower it would border on ridiculousness.

Two questions:

1) Will landships suffer breakdowns? They were notoriously unreliable, so that would be a neat touch of unpredictability. Also, how fast will they be? About the speed of a king tiger in CoH?

2) Will the game feature melee combat? After all, many of the battles were fought hand-to-hand in the trenches, with bayonets, trench knifes and sharpened shovels.
