Amazingly we've actually found some time over the last week or so to work on Bushido. Development is definitely still on-going, we're working on a new environment, introducing new animations and refactoring some of the work we've done on combat!

Nope :D ! ...Short story is that, because of the volume of work we have on at the moment, we won't be able to make any updates to Bushido until next month. Sorry for not having much to show at the moment guys!

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know we're still plugging away, but have been a bit quiet recently as we've got a lot of freelance work on at the moment!

Thanks for the feedback Hels! Our combat feature is pretty well nailed down now so we probably wont be adding in any new features. A lot of what you're describing above sounds like the mechanics from 'For Honor' - so if you haven't played that yet i'd recommend giving it a go :) !

We want to make sure that EVERYONE can enjoy Bushido, regardless of language/geographic location/etc... We're investigating localisation at the moment (including what engine tools we can leverage) and want to know where to focus our efforts!

Appreciate you taking the time to answer :) !

Hey guys - small update... We've been working on a new debugging suite this week so not a great deal of 'interesting' stuff to show... I have a completely unrelated question: How many of you have English as a second language? And if you feel like sharing, whats your first language?

Haha, well you may be a little biased on that front as you're also a dev and can see past the roughness :p ! Personally, I'm not convinced that showing off content at the prototype phase is a good idea, or at least it has to be done in a very particular way that we (at the moment) can't commit too!

damienturnbull and Coyote68 - I totally get where you're both coming from - these are both valid points! I can only apologise that we haven't been able to deliver more 'real' content, but there are a few factors that are worth pointing out...

One of the biggest challenges we face as part-time developers is prioritising our workload. Some time ago, we made the decision to put all of our resources/time into creating a prototype that contained all of the core functionality of combat.

Some of our approaches failed, and some of them succeeded. The point being - we iterated constantly to try and create something robust and scaleable.

The problem with this approach is that the 'front-end' content that I think you guys are after is basically non-existent. We don't have finished environments / characters / weapons / animations etc... We have something that looks rough and chunky and basically a bit ugly - but it WORKS, and it works well.

Yesterday I put some time aside to write up a proper blog post to help explain the situation (it should go live later today). Because you guys are right - we HAVE been bad at keeping everyone updated.

All I can really ask is that you continue to have faith in the project, keep interacting with us and help us grow our community. In exchange, we'll continue to work as hard as possible - throwing everything we've got at Bushido just as we've been doing for the past couple of years.

Thanks again for being outstanding members of the community and having a dialogue with us :) !

Definitely not dead - in fact the opposite :) ! Imagine having loads of new content to show, but no time to actually show it - its frustrating for us too :p !

Bushido has been entirely self-funded by the team since we started the project. We don't have any investors at the moment if that's what you mean?

Yes definitely! Its on the road map as a feature we'd love to implement, but at the moment we're just focusing on 2 handed long swords (e.g. Katana's). We're also looking at 1 handed, larger 2 handed swords (e.g. No-Datchi), ranged weapons and mace-like weapons (e.g. Tetsubo).

As you can imagine, its going to be a lot of work as we'll need custom animations for each weapon so that it looks right :) !!!

Hey guys :D !!

We're still plugging away. Things have been really crazy here over the last couple of months, with a lot of extra work that we didn't necessarily factor into our plans.

I need to get better at managing expectations, as I haven't done such a great job of that recently (sorry :p) !

We've got loads to share, but can't share any of it until the new year once we've finished our current work load! For anyone who doesn't know about us, Meteor Pixel is a work-for-hire studio and we have lots of client work on at the moment. Bushido only gets worked on during our spare time, which is why things have been very quiet over the last 6 months :) !

Hey guys! This test is just showing off some of the audio and how its been implemented in the game. We've still got a lot of work to do with regards to balancing the audio, making certain sounds quieter/softer/etc... So don't worry - it won't sound this full on in the finished version!

Well I have absolutely no idea where this month has gone... I'd made plans to show off some new footage, but have run out of time to actually edit it all together!

Really sorry guys, especially after saying we would definitely release some new content... I'll try and upload a few screenshots this lunchtime and PROMISE (pinky promise) that we'll release a new video early next month when we're back from our holiday!

Combat will work a bit differently than in Chivalry or M&B - its less chaotic and more precise! We also have a parry/riposte system, dodging and blocking... we're hoping to show off some of these features really soon in a video of some sorts!
