Since 1.9 will bring AI optimizations, you will be able to play against more AIs. So there's that. AI itself will be more interesting. For example, it can use drops (you can see on streams Storm Trooper drop by Hunchback). And, as far as I know, hard AI will still have more money injections than easy and medium.

To add to what Mael said, generals are planned for ROTR 2.0, and won't be in the upcoming 1.9 version. But many of the unique units for specific generals are already in the game and will be more in 1.9.

Will Windows native version be updated to 1.7.x? Or only Java versions will have new releases from now on?

Update: I installed Java version, it works surprisingly faster. So I'll keep it.

I understand how it looks from the outside perspective with this page as the only source of information. The fact is that 1.9 is in development for only about one and half year. And its scope has grown a bit too. But the wait will be worth it! Thankfully we have MaelstromX103's streams to satiate our appetite in the meantime.

Not yet, 1.9 is still in development. There are still things to implement, balance to adjust and enemy AI to code. When it will come out it will be apparent, because everyone will be freaking out :D

Мне тоже не терпится пощупать версию 1.9, но она ещё просто не готова. Не все задуманные юниты добавлены, не все мало используемые элементы переработаны. Новый искусственный интеллект пока есть только у России и ГЛА. Не говоря уже о балансе, который начнут активно править только когда в игре будут реализованы все нововведения.

Разработчики сами признались, что не ожидали, что 1.9 так разрастётся. Так что можно только порадоваться, что релиз будет огромным.

Кстати, в субботу в 14:00 по Москве будет большой 4-х часовой стрим от Мэйла. Говорит, много всего будет. Он позволит немного компенсировать недостаток РОТРа в организме :)

There is 1.87 Public Beta. So it wasn't released here, but was available through forum and now in Discord.

It should be installed on 1.86. But you can use GenLauncher to install it from scratch.

I assume you aren't using GenLauncher, otherwise you would know about 1.87. So you can get GenLauncher through GenPatcher or by downloading it from: Moddb.com

1.87 public build 2.0 is the latest version. It's not perfect, but I only have occasional crashes after about an hour of playtime. You can try Hanpatch in addons in GenLauncher, it can be technically better.

Also, did you install GenPatch? It is highly recommended to minimize technical issues.

The upcoming 1.9 version will be much better optimized, but it's quite some time away.

I really hope they will port Zaero. I love the remaster so far!

Right now ROTR 1.9 is my most anticipated game for 2023! Even if it's just an update, no upcoming game makes me more excited.

Next version is 1.9. It's still in active development, so it won't be ready for some time. If you are interested in seeing new things from it that weren't shown here (there are quite a lot of them actually), I recommend you to check out MaelstromX103's YouTube channel:

You can even install ROTR 1.87 through it, plus Control Bar Pro and some ROTR mods like Hanpatch.

If only we had such a good remakes as Black Mesa for some of the old games! It's a marvel we have Black Mesa in the first place. So many years in the work just by fans with a professional final result!

Yeah, it's not a good practice to bundle bugfixes with content additions. Unofficial patches are specifically created for people to enjoy vanilla experience with less bugs...

I don't know, may be I am a bit of a purist. I think I just got so used to original graphics that it feels wrong to see new ones. But that's just me.

Is it possible to use only bugfixes part of the mod without new graphics, sounds and music? Soulstorm Bugfix Mod is severely outdated, but I can't find any other "unofficial patch" type mod without new additions.

Physics and interactivity in Frictional's games is one of the reasons they are so immersive.

It is understandable. We wanted WarCraft III remaster/remake and soon we will have it officially. It would be soulcrushing for mod devs having all their hard work replaced by official game.

I glad that the game will be singleplayer. Not everyone enjoys or have possibility to play co-op, though it is a nice idea.
