Thanks for your variants!
About Steam. Generally, because we don't want to sell THA - it will be not right, because this is not 'our game', but remake of original mod made by other company - and selling something that is not belong to us - it is not fair way. Yes, remake need budget (as described in video), but only for required things and only if people want to help us.
P.S. sorry for long response - for some reason, I don't receive e-mail notifications about new comments at ModdDB.
Hi, Jaayu! Nice to hear you ))
Thank you. Yeah, I'm really inspired by UE4, and, anyway, planning to make something on it.
Black Mesa Source costs $12 per copy. So, it is also a remake of Half-Life, which makes money 'on peoples fond memories'?
If I wanted to make money, I'm not asked for pity $1500, which is a minimum required to buy a stuff for FPS-game. And I am not asking money for a mod with pre-made content, so here is nothing illegal or dishonest in my plans.
Thank you, man - yeah, I hope to raise some funds, at least to by models and weapons.
Kickstarter or IndieGoGo (as well as PayPal) are not available for my country (Ukraine.) Fund Dreamer is only one crowdfunding platform who gives ability of raising funds to anyone. Generally it is a team of international volunteers who was kind enough to help me. Few people from my country was successful on Fund Dreamer, so it's not 'obscure' :)) This is the reason why I am using it.
If speak about 'true nostalgia' - then we should use GoldSource :) Joke ... Yes, - you may be absolutely right, but I can't create remake on Source, or it kill me first. I have spent 2 years for pre-release of THA on Source and this was hard (sometimes really HARD.)
As for system requirements of UE4 - I have slow PC too (to be honest, I have no PC right now), so I have no plans about AAA-game creation. Primary reason of UE4 usage - it's simplicity.
Also, is pre-release of THA looks much like other Source games? We have used custom textures made from photos.
Unreal Engine 4 has Blueprints, which allows you easily make scripted scenes directly in Editor. All you need - is an animations, which I'm planning to buy from game budget.
In source there was buggy program called Faceposer, where you must do manually mostly everything. Or scripted_sequence in Hammer, which works time to time. In THA there was scenes where people talking simple phrases - it took about a week of work to make ones in Faceposer; in UE4 I made complex scenes less than in few days.
I don't even talking about applying new animations to zombies in Source....... get citizen model, get zombie model, decompile citizen, attach animation to zombie, test... test... again test ....
Sorry, man, with all my love to Valve games, I hate Source Engine so much ....
No, it is not. Rework of current mod is impossible, because to much work must be performed on pre-release maps. So, instead of reworking 'not really good' maps of pre-release mod (on ugly Source Engine, which I personally hate) - it will be much easier to start work on Unreal Engine 4 with new models and bunch of other pretty stuff.
You can offer a new name for They Hunger Again here in comments.
Thank you guys! I'm now working on update, where I'm want to show a plan of future work on THA. Hope you'll like and accept it.
P.S.
> because smaller levels = faster load times anyway
)))))))
Thank you. I've added this info into description for video.
There will be a news next plans concering They Hunger Again - so keep in touch - maybe it will be interesting for you.
>> This might be an odd request, but do you think you could either add a prefix to all the map names like th_ or just rename intro, as it is actually a conflict for the Half-Life 2 map "intro".
Hmm.. Is there any problem without th_ prefixes? It seems to work fine - isn't it? Generally, I can't do it now, cos' it's a some piece of work - I'll must to change all names in all maps in Hammer Editor and it sounds much easier than in real life, cos Source Engine is buggy enough and I remember that I was spent LOTS of nerves to make maps change from one to another correctly.
Good notice about that .exe file (never thought about that.) But, are Source mods runs on Linux or Mac?
Thank you.
Maybe, cos' people waited for too much (like with Duke Nukem Forever.) Or, maybe, something else ...
Objects are not Actors, it's just a generic classes, which don't have any components (if I correctly understand your question.)
Hi! Right now I don't know much about final map - you'd better write a PM to GRENADE_EXPERT about it.
What I'm doing right now - is working in other gamedev team as programmer and trying to earn some money for the next parts/remake of THA. So, hope I can make it, - I don't want to make the same mistakes when remaking other parts - so primary goal is to get more time, more people and more quality materials/models for developing. I hope you understand me.
I'm currently involved in other game project and trying to earn some money for continue to work on THA. Better remake requires more skilled people and time - I don't want to step on the same rake over again.
Wow! Looks naturally and HOT ))
Hi, people! I'm just leaving this here - Answers.unrealengine.com
It's a feature request for UE4 developers. If someone have similar problem, or just wanna help to add this feature to new version of engine - please vote.
Thanks.
P.S. IT'S NOT A SPAM, if you just don't care - never mind this link - it's only for developers.
I don't remember, but it definitely can be.
You can try it and tell us :)
I'm copy-pasting my answer here, cos' it's fully suitable:
It was hard to made it and there is many bugs that we just don't have a time to fix up. Future developing of this mod is currently under question in 50/50. Some people liked it, some people are dissatisfied, so there is a big question - should we spent time and money for it's remake-continue.
Man, that's all is described in this video, which is on downloads page - Youtube.com :)
Thank you for your opinion and understanding! It was hard to made it and there is many bugs that we just don't have a time to fix up. Future developing of this mod is currently under question in 50/50. Some people liked it, some people are
dissatisfied, so there is a big question - should we spent time and money for it's remake-continue.
Yep, it's SDK 2013.
Crowbar Collective or Tripmine Studio can do anything they wish, including They Hunger remake - why not?
Check out this - Youtube.com
We have no 3d-modeller right now, especially someone who can create animations for umbrella. If you know someone - let me know.
I know that is simple enough, but many people found such kind of installations complicated. So, from my practice, the most easy way to avoid additional questions - is a video instructions.
We/I don't have time and human resources to create a better remake right now. I've been worked 2-3 hours per day on THA, but now I can't do this anymore, cos' my current job doesn't allow me. So I just don't know what to do - it's unreal to create better mod, having the same/smaller amount of time. There is must be some solution, but it's not found for now.
