tl;dr version: Very atmospheric, effective use of sounds, would benefit if you know Russian. Very Good if you're into horror.
Now, I must say that this is one of the best horror games I have ever played. However, it has two major issues that cannot be overlooked:
1: It has next to no support for any other language than Russian; you miss out on the actual story of the game unless you know Russian.
2: It is very unstable at times.
Now, with the negative out of the way, let's talk about the positive. The game, first off, is very atmospheric. It's very easy to get absorbed into the dark areas of the train and other locations. It also uses sounds very effectively, making one feel uneasy about their surroundings and what they cannot see. And, while this is a personal thing I like, there is only one jump scare throughout the game, which to me is a good thing because jump scares are both not that scary (they are startling,) and they're a cheap tactic to attempt to scare the player. Additionally, the one jump scare in the game was actually well done, having it very well times.
To anyone who is into horror games, I do recommend giving this game a try. It is very worth it.
Its crack. That's all I can say. What's not to love about a cooperative zombie genocide game, with a very good variety of weapons (everything from grenade launchers, to chainsaws, to automatic weapons), perks, and mutators? The game is very unforgiving though, and some of the perks are useless in harder difficulties. It's addictive, fun, hard, and you can have fun with 5 other people.
