I am a freelance 2D and 3D artist with a passion for science fiction art. My interest in this kind of art started at an early age through my dual interest in science and art.
This video is from a Xen rendering test I conducted for Act I of my Half-Life fan movie project.
Now that the test is over, the area will undergo a redesign.
The Bullsquids and sounds have not been included.
This probably the closest thing I've seen of what BM'S xen will look like, nice work. Though don't you want to wait for the whole final realease, for all the possible models, textures, etc they might add?
Thank you.
I still have the Xen model design sheets from my time on the Black Mesa team, so I have some idea of what assets they might add. (Don't ask me for these, because I will not be giving them out)
But even if that were not the case, I want to see what I can accomplish on my own, and so I will not be using any Black Mesa assets. At most, I'll use cleaned up sounds from the original Half-Life, simply because I have no expertise in sound mixing.
This is also not the final version of my Xen, because I have been working on a redesign that should put this test render to shame.
Well, I can't figure out why, but I can't watch it. I just get solid green. Judging from the preview image alone, though, it looks amazing.
That's very unfortunate.
If it helps, I also have the same video on my YouTube channel here: Youtu.be
It is however much brighter on there, because of YouTube filters.
Looks very fluid, nice work. I wish you luck with the project, will it be entirely about the border world Xen?
Thank you.
My project will be about the Black Mesa Incident, shown from several characters' perspective.
This video was a test for Gordon's contribution to my inciting incident, the Resonance Cascade.
I wanted to see how costly the render would be, before I worked on the scene proper (approximately forty seconds to render one frame, without motion blur).
can you make more realistic xen? like a biome full of life
That's the plan.
