Welcome to the March News

Well this month has been a busy one. The devs have been working really hard to create a fantastic game and we're going to be showing you some of the fruits of their labour. Also we will be introducing a new feature to the monthly news called "What ya doin'?" This feature is where the devs tell you what they've been up to in a blog kind of fashion.

Let's start off with our new feature:

What Ya Doin'?

Noodles: Modeller/Mapper God

I've been working on the SGC, fixing bugs and creating models to go in the SGC and requests other devs have made. I am also working on the facemapping for the Tau'ri model.

Mobius: Sound Engineer

I have been updating some of the sounds.

Many Stargate fans after finding out about this mod probably though something like "another one.." :) But really, what sets this mod apart from others? This time we will speak about a map style that no other source mod has (at least as far as I know :P). And that is... **drums** assault! Some of you are probably familiar with it from Unreal tournament, but for those who never heard about it, here's a quick explanation: assault map is basically a very big objective map. BUT unlike in a simple objective map, in assault map, after completing a goal, player spawnpoints change position, ensuring non stop action in a vast variety of landscapes :D
Sgl_loop_assault (name may change) is our first go at this gamestyle. It features a total of 4 different planets trough which you will have to battle to win the round, but it is very possible, that in future maps may future even more planets :D.

STAGE 1         
PLANET: P4X 630 (remake of sgtc planet from map sg_loop)
OBJECTIVES: Tau'ri must escape trough the gate to P4X 639 and disable the time loop device. Goa'uld must prevent them from escaping.

STAGE 2
PLANET:  P4X 639(planet from SG-1 episode "Window of oportunities"
OBJECTIVES: Tau'ri must disable the time loop device to return home. They must do so by pressing the correct combination of moving panels on the device, just like in the show. Goa'uld must meanwhile do anything necessary to prevent the loop from breaking and Tau'ri from escaping.

Sorry folks, don't have any screenies here yet, but the device is created and working, just need some proper textures. So you'll just have to take my word for it when I say that it looks really sweet 8)

STAGE 3
PLANET:  P3X 409
OBJECTIVES: Before returning to Earth Tau'ri must go to P3X 409, a recently discovered planet that has great amount of naquada resource, meet up with SG-13 and barrow a GDO to be able to return to SGC. Goa'uld must once again do anything they can to stop Tau'ri.

STAGE 4
PLANET: P3X 409
OBJECTIVES: After retrieving the GDO Tau'ri now have a chance to return to Earth. All they must do is get back to the gate, dial home, use the GDO to lover the IRIS and return to SGC. But it won't be that easy.. Goa'uld have now secured defensive positions at the gate and are not willing to give up this last chance to stop the Tau'ri and prove who are the most skillful warriors.

Welcome to the January news everyone.

We are finishing
off code and maps ready for a first public release. One of the major
things we need to do before this is player models and maps.

We present to you some eye candy to feast your eyes on (Artistic style to emphasise its WIP). Our work in progress SGC:

Flying Ships will be in our first major release
You can expect to fly the Jumper and Deathglider at the very minimum. Thanks to DanielH who helped with the ships code.

The gamemodes which we will be including in the release are:

  • Advanced Objective Mode
  • Capture the Flag

We currently have a test server up and running thanks go to Tokra Clans' Stive, you can see the server status below:
This
means when we reach our next major internal version (0.9.6) we will
give the beta to all who signed up for testing and have not been turned
down and then finally the public.

NNC update 23rd of November

Well, it's been quite a while since the last update, but we haven't stopped working for a minute.
Just a few weeks ago, a new addition to our team was made. Buck, a moderator of the forum, has joined the mapping crew! In the next update, we'll post some screenshots of his new maps.

On the models side, thanks to a lot of hard work by Bram, most of the non-player models have been remade. This includes the Valley of End statues (now that we know who they are, it's easier to model them) and the Sexy no Jutsu Model! It looks a lot more like a girl now. Check them out:

The coding part wasn't left behind either, and we're really starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! First of all, a charge bar to all the jutsus was made, so the HUD is more functional and there's better control over the jutsus. This means that all that was left for the Goukakyuu to be declared finished was the sounds, and thanks to Mobius, those were added as well! Now it's entirely finished! Unfortunately, most people are only gonna get a taste of those in the gameplay movie. Here's a pic of both:

Other than that, as you might have seen on the previous POTM (which by the way, means Picture of The Moment, giving us the privilege to change it whenever we feel like it =p), Chakra charging is complete, and thanks to Tommi for his amazing chakra aura effect, it looks pretty good as well!

This addition makes the gameplay experience a lot more complete, and as I said earlier, the mod is coming along well towards completion and it's actually a starting to feel like it while playing.

More on coding, Kage Bunshin has come to a near complete phase. Right now, the Bunshins spawn, run towards the enemy, and inflict damage to it. What's left is to improve their AI, add some more eye candy, and set all the proper animations and sounds to play. More of this will be on the next update:

We thought it would be nice to have a POTM archive to look at how the mod progresses and just to get some more screenshots on the site, so from now on there's a POTM Archive at our Gallery.

I think I'll start off with what modification projects I'm currently involved with. 

 

There's   Naruto Ninja Chronicles (NNC for short) which was the first mod I have ever been a part of.
