Time's End is not dead

KingDaniel Blog 7 comments

Full time work and a social life are the enemies of mapping. Time’s End is not dead. It’s an enormous project, 70+ maps at present although that number will likely go down with cuts and merges. One day I look at it and see something I’m really proud of, another day I look and see a massive clusterfuck.

Why no updates on the TE page? With updates come expectations. It’ll be done when it’s ready. If I die first, my apologies. I don’t think I will, though.

(and no I’m not dying any quicker than the rest of you)

Portal 2 WTF?

I've been operating in a fishbowl since I started Time's End. I haven't played many games, I haven't read any gaming mags and I've stayed away from gaming news sites. All my time at a PC has been focused on making TE.

And then I found out about Portal 2.

Portal 2 - set hundreds of years into the future and again starring GLaDOS and Chell in a broken-down Aperture Science facility. They even released a timeline of events leading up to Portal.

Oh shit! I made an HL/Portal/Life's End/HL2 timeline in order to make sure all the time travel in Time's End would make sense. The story is pretty tightly wrapped around that timeline. Now Valve come out with one? Lucky for me, my and Valve's timelines are almost identical. Everything still fits. No massive story-breaking contradictions.

Phew!

(then again, would anyone have even noticed or cared if the stories were incompatible?)

Wow. Nice page.

Wow. I had no idea this page existed. No joke.

In case you don't know already (the news is taking forever to get auth'd), Time's End is delayed until late this year. Sorry. I really should have announced the delay before the month it was supposed to be released.

Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.
