So, 1.5 years later answer, but someone might get the same problem so I'll say what I learnt.

The scanners have to be built using the numbers 93 and 186 for the frequency range (numbers N1 and N2 when building the scanners). Putting something else (such as the purposely proposed 54 and 256 numbers IIRC) will built the scanners and unlock the next part of the mission like everything's fine, but the mission is actually not doable anymore.

Screw this mod for this and the associated package that is: the awful google translation + all the missions before this one being extremely straightforward + the automatic unique savegames every 20mn in the first part of the mod and no autosaving at all for more than 3 hours before that part (not counting the extremely numerous and hard arena missions).

Your flash drive probably won't accept any file larger than 4Gb (google "4gb limit" or similar requests). Try moving the unrared folder instead, or cut your rar folder in two. Xtremsplit can do that, there are probably command lines to do that too.

Hi there. I've found some clues in Dead City pointing to hidden stuff in the city. I can't find the stuff though, if the translation is not wrong that would be a very powerful rifle (Gauss rifle maybe?) and the tomb of some bandit boss. Anyone knows where these things are (if they exist)? Also, is there something to do with the friendly zombie?

You can also ghost in the building in the SE corner east of the Hell's Kitchen square (chapter 2). Scary and dangerous things happened there.

Yes, Stephanie Maxwell. This was in vanilla. I told the Revision team about it anyway, I think they added it to the list of ~bugs to solve.
You have to let the conversation between her and the guards happen if you want her to talk. I think she has nothing important to say.

Why would it not drift into obscurity? It's not a TBD project, it's a finished product, published 3 months ago. The devs don't (have to) update it every 3 days. It's nothing like a mandatory modding tool. DX is far from being the most popular game here.
It's totally normal that the mod slowly drifts into obscurity. Drifting into obscurity is not a sign of failure for a mod. Look at the Nameless Mod: totally obscure for years now, but still a reference in DX modding.
What were you expecting? DX taking over HL, GTA and M&B just thanks to Revision?

The pseudo "steam-only/DLC" release didn't help here on moddb, but it helped the mod reach the steam audience. Steam audience >>>>>> Moddb audience. It was a deal with SE: either steam-only/DLC or no steam at all.

I hope the team is still working on that "Revision framework" thing.

What is that propaganda (2nd link) doing here? That video and article are not information. That video is a propaganda montage of violent images aiming at manipulating people. I've never seen anything close to that by 1%, and I've been working in Calais (where 1000s of actual migrants look for a way to move to the UK, biggest site like that in France) for years.
Also, that kind of hateful video is exactly what jihadists want to be produced and shared, totally in accordance with their holy war wishes.

What exactly are you trying to say by providing that link? This has nothing to do with DX or Revision.

The whole secret level makes sense: you can enter without cheating, you can pick the sword and you can get out without cheating. Look for interactive items (for example, first one is a pipe) in the various rooms where you get stuck.

Also, there is a topic about this on Steam, if you really can't find the exit. Reading it is cheating though. Steamcommunity.com

I guess you can, but do it right: HDTP models are an optional bonus of Revision, deactivated by default. How can it be the worst part of the mod?
You could have say: "now the biggest thing that is left to do is to create a full package of HD models".

Now that you clearly say SE were the ones requesting the exclusivity part of the deal, I fully understand and agree with what you guys did.
Understanding is the first step before agreeing...

Finished the mod, had fun, rated it 9 with long review.
To sum up, I think it's the best mod there is for Deus Ex concerning all graphics and lighting. So, the ambiance got clearly 'augmented'. On the other hand, I was expecting more changes in the maps design, especially in the first half of the game - a bit disappointed there, not enough new places to explore.
Best maps IMO, that any DX lover should play: Paris (mainly outside) and the Ocean Lab (might be the best map ever done for Deus Ex, especially towards the end).
I didn't see anything making the game not as good as in its vanilla form.

The mod is great in what it is: an augmentation of DX. I'm still in the last chapter (area 51), I was disappointed with the first chapters, not as good as expected, but then maps like Paris and Ocean Lab are really very good.
I mostly judge on the map design, but for the graphics, they are better than those of New Vision. All in all, the mod deserves much more than the current 6.3 here. It's one of the very best DX mods, maybe just behind TNM.

Silmacunt, do you ever stop being an annoying fanboy? Do you ever actually discuss things with people who don't share your opinion? Do you ever argue? Are you even trying to say something? Do you even -think-? The answer to all these questions is no.

Am I the only one worried about the steam-exclusivity? Look at those **** ratings up there: the answer is no. Did I even say that CC did something wrong??? No. Am I trying to destroy the mod in any way? No.

You're nothing but an annoyance, really.

I uderstand Steam-release = increased visibility. But the important word here is Steam <ONLY>. I still don't see an answer about why the exclusivity except for a condition fixed by SE...

I really like TNM, more than any other DX mod, and I usually like DX mods. But IMO it's more like:
"a bunch of guys decided to put a shitload of work into something, they wanted to reach the largest audience and so to release it on Steam with the support of Square Enix, and Square Enix told them: 'ok, but you'll have to make it Steam-only (so people will have to buy DX on Steam even if they own the CD)'. So the guys made it officially Steam-only while knowing it was easy to bypass the Steam restriction".

If that's not what happened, I'm still waiting for someone to explain me why CC didn't release an official version of Revision ready for people who own other versions of DX, which would have been the best for everyone - except SE.

Just so you know, MonarchX, Caustic Creative put something in the exe so you (just you) can't play the mod, because of your past comments. This mod will always be Never-Vision for you.

I just finished Paris. You CC guys did a nice work there.
I noticed some typos on a few posters in french. I tried editing the textures package for Paris and found some more typos in "plastic" textures that I didn't see in the game. 6 pcx files have typos.
If you're interested in correcting those, tell me where to put the details.

Forget about it, I found a page about that secret chamber, and completed it.
I still wonder if there were other places like that one... I remember some doors with infinite lock and strength... I should have tried ghosting in.

Is there a dedicated page for spoilers and stuff? I just found a "secret chamber" (chapter 9), leading to several other rooms, but I can't find anything inside there...
And now I'm wondering if I didn't miss other secret chambers.

Regeneration works for me, and the game never crashes. I play with non-steam version and using the modified revision.exe that has been linked in the comments here a few days ago.

Weirdly, I had problems finding him as well. As in vanilla DX, there are two ways to find him. Both are in the "new zone": when you go out of the 'Ton hotel (main door), go left then first street on the right (actually a tunnel) leads to what I call the "new zone". Look for an open apartment unit door (1st way) or for closed containers (2nd way).

It seems to work for everyone else.
Alternative: download this Dl.dropboxusercontent.com, unzip and use that revision.exe file as replacement to the revision.exe file in your DeusEx/System folder.

(btw, you just had to read three comments below to find it...)

I don't judge the mod, Mr. Closemindedannoyingfanboy, I judge the release and the truely OFFICIAL steam exclusivity that is ruining the mod spreading and is a bad thing for the average DX owner.
Yes, they ****** up with the release. It's their choice. You can accept that and still think the mod is good you know? (I don't know if it's good or not, I didn't play it)

It is a "steam exclusive" because Caustic Creative say it is a "steam exclusive". Simple enough?
Yes, even the standalone installer is "steam exclusive", since they don't give the info for making it usable without steam.
If CC said "here is a steam version, here is a retail version" with Kentie's launcher in it, there would be no problem at all and the mod would have an average rating higher than 9.5.

Good karma+3 votes
IgorPoulpupov
IgorPoulpupov - - 89 comments @ Deus Ex: Revision

CC obviously knew about that easy fix for making the mod compatible with any DX copy, Kentie's launcher is how most of the DX mods start.
They could have released their mod with Kentie's launcher included, they did not. Why?
That official "steam-exclusivity" is not only totally ridiculous, problem is it doesn't help the players and it doesn't help the mod, with people just ignoring it due to the "steam" word. They knew about that as well.
So, again, why keeping the mod officially steam-exclusive? Why half-ruining their own mod spreading? We'll probably never know about it, and that's what is wrong with that release.

So, New Vision: some people had to patch their version of DX or to double check the install directory.
Revision: most of the people first think they can't play without buying DX on steam, lots of them get angry, then some of them see that there's a trick to install it without steam (including things to update by themselves if they want everything to work properly) and they have to patch their game anyway.

Conclusion: Revision is simpler? Might be true for the minority who had problems installing New Vision and who own DX on Steam, not for the others.

Giving $ to CC would not be a big problem. Giving $ to DX creators once again is not that much of a problem either. Giving $ to Valve or Square Enix for playing a DX1 mod? No way, not a cent.
Also, Steam is pure annoyance to me.
