if you ask the devs themselves they might issue you a new one and invalidate the old one for you.

Wait until you start allying with the AI. It does a pretty good job of it (well no more irritating than the average human player). And it is a lot of fun to discover how you are able to use each others abilities. Such as a Necromancer following around his Baron ally to raise the dead after the battles (even in cities the Baron owns). Or how well the Troll King allies with Dwarf Queen since they do not want each others resources.

You do know that you can team with the AI? Quite effectively.
At least we got that thru the new version.

Diplomacy with the AI is pretty one-sided. I can send them money and items.
They can ally, but only with each other.

The devs consider that the game has a ton of diplomacy options.
Because you are not limited by a menu of what you can do.

Do you mean that you want the game to enforce NAPs?

They do. Both of their games are updated versions of really old games. There are obvious differences between the newer sprites versus original ones. Each patch tends to include some updated ones.

Or there are player mods which update some of the sprites

What they DID build in was many command-switches that make this game interface very nicely to webpages. That makes it easy for the fans to create any kind of matchup or game creation service they want.

The Dom3Minions.com server has open games always available if you can find people to join you. The usual method would be to announce the game on one of the dom3 forums or maybe one of the IRC chat rooms asking for people to join the game with you before hitting the start button.

Pros and Cons.
Actually Im amazed at how well they do with each unit just needing 2 little icon-sized images. There are still some old original graphics but the newer updated ones are fantastic.

I wouldnt want to see the game switched to something like 3D just for eyecandy. We would lose too many player modders. But that is just my opinion. id rather have the mods

Not just Illwinter. In any game I am enjoying I tend to prefer RPGing something if possible instead of whining about it.

But in this case I grew up among farmers. And I have done wildlife management in the military. Deer aint Bambi dude. Deer kill more people in the US than bear, wolf, cougar, alligator and shark combined (mostly vs cars but still they are tough). If you go to google and search for deer attacks there are some fun things on there. Even one deer, that gets into a building, can do a lot of damage. And that is just my experience in the US. The deer where the devs live are quite abit rougher as I understand it. So yes, wandering animals will damage your farm if you dont leave an armed person there. :) But if it REALLY bugs someone I was the first to offer up a mod to fix it.

Altho for game purposes I find it better to just leave a commander around to reclaim a spot after the animals leave. A small group can patrol a large area more efficiently than trying to hang onto everything for every turn. If any MP grames break out then Im sure the spreadsheeters will pass judgement on that tactic but it works ok for me.

All nations have an income without taking anything if you can be patient.
The animals do not attack buildings the way goblins or knights do. But they do randomly wander so they can go thru towns if there are no guards doing lots of damage. That is world-realistic.

I think if you hit Credits on the menu it should tell you that your CoE3 is version 3.17?

The information I had is that it was offered to the same 3 places as CoE3 quite a while ago. It seems to be up to those sites now.

Dom3 has been turned down before by Steam but hopefully having CoE3 on it will make a difference.

At first, no. But apparently Johan talked to Steam about it. Im told that if people try again they can. But remmeber it is NOT the Desura code you get Steam to recognize. Its the serial ID for the game that you got from that code. Steam will recognize the serial

Illwinters previous game is Dominions 3. Much MUCH larger with years of play (and much more expensive by the way). Dom3 is like 70% toward multiplay and 30% toward solo. It has randoms but not particularly game-ending.

CoE3 is the reverse. At least 70% or more toward solo play with the ability to multiplay (especially with teams which dom3 didnt support as much). The randoms in CoE3 can be the opponent that takes you out of the game. Coe3 is also faster and less micro-management that Dom3.

Consequently, many of the comments are coming from Illwinter fans of the Dom3 fanbase. I havent seen many reviews that were actually wrong. Its just choice of words. What I as a player who loves playing solo call small, fast play, limited MM, maximum fun surprises;
a Dom3 MPer recently called "shallow and mostly luck based".
None of it is wrong. Its just impressions and wording.

What is your point? Steam is like the "Dollar Store" of game publishers.

We would have to wait until the results of that tactic are felt before it gets tried anyplace else.

Really? All sites that sell something should price it the same? I dont think that happens with anything.

BTW its also on sale at GamersGate for about the same as Steam depending on what peoples preferences are.

People are adding new classes now in mods. And the developers themselves have some in the works that will be added by free patch later

Have you? I know it seems obvious, but really if you take one on marketing you will find that what seems obvious has surprising alternatives.

Actually its not counter-productive.
I know that it seems logical that it should be. But there are many factors involved. This has been deeply debated by many levels of experts for a decade just with the games of this company. The discussions can still be found if you are interested.

No hard feelings. Just that the comment is not new revelation.
