I can't believe that this game isn't even in the top 100. Merp was abandoned more then a year ago but it's still way higher than Lays of Althas. Still such a shame that WB C&D you guys for this Assasins creed game with some Lotr elements.

I can't answer the Kickstarter question but if you look at the map of Althas in the images, you can see that it's really big. I believe I that I have read here that Thenodar is as large as Skyrim. Also The Feralands are as Large as Mirkwood would have been in Merp. So it's going to be an insanely big map where you could wander for hours and hours.

It's really nice, must have been a lot of work. Wich mod did you use for the Witch King? Because he looked exactly like in the thrilogy.

The Merp team wanted to make a mod that deserves to have the name of The lord Of The Rings on it. A game that really deserves to have the story of Tolkien told. If you want to make that happen you will have to make a huge game because the story of Tolkien is huge too. It is sad that the team didn't make it on CryEngine 3 to begin with and maybe kept it a bit underground. But that is just hindsight...

How can it still be in the top 100 xD

A RPG Middle Earth game will most likely be made in the future by an actual gaming company or maybe even modders with a good Engine. This project however is dead, the Engine can't support it so it will never be made as a Skyrim mod.

I know that, what I meant was did you (the team) know for a year that Merp wasn't going to happen?

Because I don't understand why you guys didn't began Lays of Althas earlier if Merp was a mission impossible.

And it's not just because of the C&D but also because of a bug that makes it impossible to create Middle Earth because it would be way too big.

They have even made a couple of languages. Look around at there wiki Althas.wikia.com. Some of the content is not available anymore but I already read it a couple of days ago.

All we can do now is just say thanks for all the hard work to the team and try to have as much dedication to Lays Of Althas: Sundered Order as thousands of us had to MERP.

The amount of detail is epic in LoA: SO, so give it a chance!

Gone forever? I don't think it's gone forever. It's just a matter of time before another talented group of modders will begin this adventure..

Exactly, i'm not a big fan of pirating (I only pirate games like Lotr Battle of Middle Earth 2). But i will not hesitate to pirate that game. Just to hope that someone at Wb feels bad for all the money they lost.

There where problems with the Oblivion Merp. That's why they moved it to Skyrim. The engine of Oblivion couldn't handle it.

To be honest this is the best possible solution although this will mean that we will have to wait for a game that deserves to have the wonderfull story of Tolkien.

Just one more thing guys. Eventhough the bug was the killing blow. Please do not buy the new Hobbit game(It will be released, I can't think that they would not take this oppportunity to squees out extra money out of the fans), just pirate it;) Even if it will be an awesome game(I doubt that). I hope that Wb will see on
PirateBay/KickassTorrents how much money they lost because of that C&D. Then they will think about it before destroying another great project that will bring joy to a lot of people.

This mod was the only reason why I didn't uninstalled Skyrim yet...

This is very sad news, but I can understand why you guys made this decision because it clearly could never happen. I will have to wait a little longer to explore the wonderfull lands of Middle Earth.

I hope that you will some day make this dream happen but for now I will wait how Lays of Althas: Sundered Order will be. I know that the team is extremely talented and I hope that your new project will be an absolute awesome game. I will of course follow the new mod.

Also I want to point out that on the Wiki of Lays of Althas is said that it will be on the Skyrim Engine but in the update it is CryEngine.

That's what an RPG game is all about.

However maybe there will be a timeline and you can miss out on quests?

I love the Lotr and I really hope that Wb lifts the C&D. What they are doing is just stupid but it is their right to do it. They have bought the copyright to produce The Hobbit and Lotr games. If you make a Lotr mod and upload it on the Nexus, it is ilegal! They just don't care about small mods, but they do care about basically a whole game. That's why they gave the C&D.

Again, I am with the modders for 100% and I hope that this campaign is going to work. But if this will end up in the court, Wb will win for sure.

The mod was almost a year ago stopped by Wb. Without it we could have walked through the woods of Mirkwood and depths of Moria by now....

The engine of Merp is much better as the engine of Oblivion. Sure it will crash from time to time but I think that it can handle it.

How much I would like to believe you, It does violate the copyright. It doesn't matter if the team makes money or give it free it still uses the Ip that Wb purchased for a lot of money.

It's an Indie, I love Indie games.

It's only 10 euro's so why not. There are a lot of mods for M&B Warband so more reasons to buy it.
