You might be right, these horizontal lines, might come out a little too strong. They're basically edge highlights that i mix in with the diffuse via my AO/EdgeHighlight-Map. Even Though they're not very noticable in the night lighting of our level, i will probably work on them some more in the near future.

It's a bit sad that you can't see that much on our screenshot, i already tweaked some values to get it brighter. But its always hard to make good night lighting. On different monitor setups the results can vary a lot!

We will probably make some kind of survey some time soon, to find a good solution for this problem.

Yeah and we're sorry for that. We're two developers and from time to time we geht help from other people,but finishing this project mainly rests on us.

Now i am studying and gladers is working most of the time (still finds a lot of time to code for dvh, which i'm very gratefull for!). As i am studying Interactive Entertainment at the moment, i also have university gameprojects to work on, which consumes a lot of my time.

But as i said DVH might benefit from the models and textures i made for those projects, and if you want , i might just give you guys a sneek peak on my latest project to compensate for our rare updates ;).

Also be assured that gladers and i love this mod very too much to let it die !

They were made by hand since all the tree gens i've put my hand on so far, were'nt able to deliver a nice and realistic spruce tree look.

Agreed ! Models look good but levels look sterile. Don't think too much about realism but make those levels more interesting and messed up. Also the hands and weapons just seemed a bit too small and too quiet (accustically and visually). Nevertheless, keep it up !

That's the whole purpose of it ;) . These things, turned into a trap, were my most favorite item as a demon when playtesting. We're probably going to add a sythe and maybe another type of axe in too (or a sword or dagger maybe).

THIS MOD IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME AND HILARIOUS !
But why the heck are there no servers ? Really guys !! Just get the Money together and rent 2-3 servers this game is meant to be played !
Pleaaaase make an Announcement when you have the server ready ! This game has made me so *****, i wanna play it right now or i won't be able to live on.

That's something that has been discussed, but until now we've come to the conclusion that it's better for gameplay if you don't have to choose between flashlight or weapon. Additionally it would also be a huge amount of extra work, realizing this (a lot more more animation, and coding would be needed) and we want to focus on more important aspects of the mod.
Dynamic flashlights for the other Players you play with, is also sadly something that the source engine is absoloutley not capable of. We've experimented with that and already one additional dynamic light drops the frame rate to ~20fps.
But gladers did a really good job improving the basic effect of other player's flashlights, and i have to say it looks really good now. Join the Steam Group (https://steamcommunity.com/groups/DemonsHumans) and see for yourself when the next playtest is on ;)!

On this picture i've basically just put more detail into the brushwork to make it look more realistic but i also wanted to keep the original look as far as possible. I think you can't really see all the minor details on this big picture, but you will as soon as it's released ;).
We're also attempting to retexture some parts with custom textures and make some more custom props for the levels.
What we're going to do about gameplay for example: extra areas within the levels or areas that would split up the players for a short path, is something that still needs to be elaborated.

It's a low lightmap scale and mostly highres 1024x1024 textures. Source Engine really doesn't like dynamic lights and shadowing (huge fps drops, etc.) .

Watched the trailer and i really gotta say it looks massive !!
The atmosphere seems even scarier than Metro2033, which used a similiar concept of fear. I think i'm going to buy myself a copy of this.
Will there really be no fighting/any weapons ?

I think you will get copyright problems...
I had the same idea when i watched the movie, but you should rather make your own concept to realise the idea of a game that takes place in dreams.
Its just a bit lame to simply copy and paste the movie...

use some red colored things as contrast, and stop using a wall texture that has almost the same color as the gun ^^ . Looks like a german bureaucrat was asked to color this level.
Anyways, i really love this project :) ! How many maps are planned/finished by now ?
