You rock man, thanks.
I'm from Texas. =P I don't know. I just liked the word. Plus, the meaning of it in Dutch, and how it sounds to me (an English speaker) just made it an appropriate title.
It isn't dead, but I had to take a long break due to things in Real Life. I'm picking it up again in full-force soon.
As for the story, I don't want to give anything away. =)
Before I released the map I never would have thought so many people care about if the player is wearing the HEV suit or not.
That would be awesome, Sharkz. I hope you do!
If your computer is on the slow side it might lag. I tried to optimize the map, but it may not have been enough. Try turning your graphics settings down further.
I dig the vista. I might add some more detail and visual interest to the warehouse building on the right, though.
Is it unzipped in the "sourcemods" folder? If so, maybe restart Steam.
Yeah. Right now it is but I've got several other maps in the works that will continue where this one leaves off.
I've considered it, but I don't have definite plans one way or the other yet.
Well, thanks for taking the time to offer feedback at least.
Just to set the record straight, none of the game ideas are taken from Minerva. I'm using text instead of v/o like Minerva did, but that's all.
Regarding the basement, it sounds like you had some trouble with that part. Nothing about it is broken, though.
No, it's released today and they just haven't approved the news post or the download yet. It's killing me!
I imagine it'll be some time later today.
Thanks! I just released the mod, so once it's approved, go check it out!
Glad you liked the demo. I'll be releasing the first part of the mod within the week!
The soda machines weren't really placed there randomly, but I was trying something that didn't really work out. Ah well.
I'm sorry to hear that it crashed on you, but you're the only person I've heard having crash issues. It was my first attempt, and so there were a few issues that did get by. Sounds like you found them all. =P
Also, the crane is usable by the player. You have to smash the lock on the chain-link door.
I changed this area around significantly and you can see an updated screenshot of it here (though at a slightly different angle):
It's been a TON of work. It has also been very rewarding. I'm polishing the first map for release now, so hopefully it won't be long, but I can't promise anything yet!
Looking great guys!
You might consider putting some additional detail into the yellow support beams and the ceiling. The support beams look too blocky. Maybe make them look more like i-beams?
Be wary of using too much colored lighting in any one scene. It gets old quick. Maybe light it with white and use red for accent, or around the alarm lights.
Plus, this looks like a combine room, which is traditionally lit with a more bluish color or white.
Anyway, my two cents.
Can someone elaborate on this? It's getting a lot of votes but I don't really know what you mean. The artificial lighting on the wall is too powerful, or the environmental light is too bright?
This is the updated version of the screenshot here: Moddb.com
Thanks man. I don't have a date for the release of the mod yet. It's just me working on it when I have time. I'm hoping it'll be released this year, but that is probably unlikely.
Thanks! I've got more coming and it's going to be even better than the demo.
Thanks man.
The new stuff I'm working on is going to blow the demo out of the water. =)
No, it is definitely not dead. :) It's just a huge project and now Valve has broken the level editor for me, so progress has been slow lately.
But no, it's still very much alive and in development.
I wouldn't use those pipe decals anywhere the player can walk up to them. They're really only believable from far away. Plus, it looks weird that there are two of them mirrored on neighboring walls.
Also, I'd recess those windows a little into the wall. And, I'm not sure how there's a window on the wall on the right if there's a trash chute (or a vent) right next to it. Unless the trash chute goes out of the building, and then back into it?
Also, maybe add some trim to the trash chute and a ramp or something for the trash to ride out of the chute on.
Only one camera in the whole level can be active at once. So, you can't have two monitors side-by-side showing different cameras.
So, yes, you have it right.
