Saga Infantry and Saga Veteran Infantry are the names in your troop tree.

It's under the Saga Villager tree: Saga Villager -> Saga Spearman -> Saga Infantry.

If you would notice, the saga infantry and saga veteran infantry have superior equipment compared to the higher tier troops.

---

Also another mistake I saw: Nagaoka Trained Spearman is equipped with a Kunitomo Teppo even though he doesn't have any bullets which make me think he shouldn't have a teppo at all.

---

I must also say that gunpowder skirmishers are currently pointless in this mod since their muskets are inferior in accuracy or damage compared to the line infantry. Skirmishers are meant to be the snipers/hunter type units, but they're worse in shooting than regular line infantry, and they also don't have bayonets.

Just to clarify. Spencer rifles are not my problem. My problem is that low tier Saga domain troops have them. I even think spencer rifles would be alright if they were equipped on elite top of the line skirmisher troops.

Renaisance - Renaissance mod set in pike and shot era warfare. Lots of customization. Multiple troop trees (Elite troops from castles, Versatile midtier troops from cities, less versatile midtier mass deployment troops from villages)

Suvarnabhumi Mahayuth - Pike and shot era mod set across Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Awesome mod set in a place and time not tackled too much in video games. Has very unique factions with units ranging from Elephant Riders, Peacock feather dart throwers mounted on fast moving ponies, exploding arrow horse archers, to Ironclad Portuguese. All of the weapons from these unique nations are available to your custom army.

Though not exactly what you might be asking for, you can play Rome At War II mod. The mod has the Macedonians whose main units are Sarissaphoros...

Feedback to creator about balancing: Saga domain troops are equipped with spencer rifles. I don't know why such a low tier troop would have access to repeating rifles. I managed to have 50 saga domain troops mow down hundreds of samurai within a minute of them getting into range -- and considering how accurate spencer rifles are, that's quite a long range. Not a single samurai even came into range to use their bow.

X? Why can't I throw the spear though?

Why not? You want us repeating the same instruction every start of a battle? Gets annoying. Also, the lack of square formation and shieldwall is another thing that annoys me since square formation is a wonderful thing to have in combination with pikemen.

My main question: I don't know if I'm being dumb, but how do you use the alternate modes? I usually pressed X for alternate modes like throwing/polearm modes, bayonet/rifle modes in other mods, but for this mod, there's alternate modes underneath the text tooltip.

Kudos to you: Great mod overall! I love how authentic all the armors are. Nothing's standing out of place.

Requst: I saw that you included firearms in the form of two handgonnes. Can you make firearm units? Like the handgunners in MTW2? Or is there one already?

I have all patches. I wish only the best for this mod, but the first step to improving what is wrong is acknowledging that it is wrong.

Here's a pic a quickly whipped up to show you how wrong the gun alignment is: Scontent.fmnl4-6.fna.fbcdn.net

Also, if you can't see how clunky the animation is, look at how other mods do the reloading animation and you'd see theirs are a lot smoother. L'Aigle's reloading is the most authentic and smoothest, but you can also look at other mods to see how fluid they are.

Victorian Era's reloading animation involves the gun magically flipping around without proper transitional animation.

What I'm complaining about might appear to be nitpicking but gun animations and gun alignments are very important in intuitively using the guns in your mod.

Just wanted to ask if when would the problem of gun alignment be solved? The gun animation causes the gun barrel to point way lower than the crosshair. Would it not be possible to use the animation used in other musket mods? The musket animation in this mod is just too clunky looking.

Animation of guns in gekokujo, suvarnabhumi mahayuth, Imperial calradia, and even the Independence of Chile mod all have better gun animations than this mod.

Also, please fix the consistency in capitalizations and spelling.

Textures are also suffering from being overly bright and doesn't fit well with the rest of the warband aesthetic.

Good luck on this mod.

All he needs to fix now is the font contrast over the background.

Nice work on the recent patches. Another problem with the font is with regards to the color contrast. You have a lot of black text being placed over dark textures.

For example: during the character creation screen, the name box with black font is placed over a dark wood texture, making the text hard to read.

Also, when in the city, the image on the upper right corner is so large that it goes under the text, making it hard to read since the text is black and so is the image.

Can you try making another submod for Gekokujo?

Daimyo Edition is great and all, and is a lot better than Gekokujo, but I was wondering if you could try making your own take for the Boshin War as well, similar to what the Rising Sun did?

Bugs can be fixed over time.

The problem here is that the problem with the mod is its artistic direction.

No matter how much time they invest, if they don't know how to design proper UI, that time will just go to waste.

Just look at L'Aigle's UI. That only got a few versions, but its UI was superb. It's just a pity that it didn't get much else done.

I had such high hopes for this mod. HAD.

First Impressions:

Horrible UI

I was so excited to play this game when I saw it uploaded, but the very first thing that I saw after starting the game is the horrible UI. So many mount and blade mods look so crude and unprofessional due to this problem. You might argue that they are simply fan made and thus the reason the quality is poor, but I'm not talking about a lack of good custom UI. I'm talking about the overabundance and clutered appearance of most mods UIs.

Look at Gekokujo, L'Aigle, Suvarnabhumi Mahayuth, Native Warband, and other mods. They have minimalistic UI that don't clutter the screen with too many things going on. Some of the good mods don't even bother creating too much custom UI -- which is actually good since the normal UI is aesthetic enough to look decent, but is efficiently functional.

Even more important is that good mods have normal looking fonts that are decent enough for their theme, but not too heavily stylized to the point of being jarring. This mod takes subtlety out completely and uses cringe worthy fonts taken straight from MS Word 2000 WordArt which were cool back from when we were gradeschoolers.

Also, the fonts are badly contrasted. It's not a good idea to place black font over dark background pictures. This alone is already driving me away from this mod.

Item Dump at the Start of the Game

Having gone past the problem of the horrible UI and creating my starting story to start actually playing the game, I find myself on the overworld map, and went straight to Berlin. I immediately went to the weapons shop to see what kind of weapons are available. There I found that a horrible item dump was placed into the inventory. When you play a game to start a new game, you expect it to be a new game wherein you start from scratch and build up your own character -- but with this mod, you get this dump of items of all assortments without any effort at all.

Preset inventories like this are good if they are not found on the normal base game. Take a look at Sayazn. Sayazn has a normal mode where you start from scratch, and you also have the mode where you start out as a princess wherein you get a preset gear. This gives players options of wether or not they'd start out with gear or not.

---

At this moment, both of these problems made me drop the mod for now, but I hope improvements are made on either aspects.

ESPECIALLY THE HORRIBLE UI.

And here I was thinking the Red Wars had horrible UI.

I did a bit of reading around the net and it seems the original Gekokujo has that feature. I guess it's meant to reflect the Ashigaru's Levied infantry nature wherein they aren't as consistent because they're just peasants so they don't have the same weapons.

The mod creator opted to have specific flag bearer units. It's usually under the ashigaru spearmen tree.

I'd like to report a bug in Gekokujo Daimyo:

Firearm Ashigaru Skirmishers are equipped with bows more often than they are equipped with guns.

When you check their equipment, they tell you they are only equipped with firearms, but in battle, you'd notice that 1 out of 4 skirmishers are equipped with bows.

Because of this, the ashigaru troops are not reliable when you're looking for firearms equipped units.

Tsushima gunners end up becoming the only cheap and reliable firearm unit.

Overall, this gme would have been very good, but it seems that the firearm skirmishers get bows.
