Those ain't that hard actualy (you need only to find or make multiple good quality photos of road, make them seamless by using offset and combining together!

Worst ones are building textures with tons of small parts so you need to re-do them separately by hand.

Your case is right, it's a part of environment. I wanted to say "statics", but that's not important how you classificate them, it's all about retexturing them!

BF2 would look better with those of course, but I'm working hard on balanced textures since BF2/2142 exe doesn't seem to be happy with 4K. So I might do only 1k and 2K what is still way better then blurry vanilla 512x512 ones. I haven't tried 4GB patched BF2 exe, but it might help to make game more stable I believe. Yet biggest texture for test was 12K which game engine loaded succesfully.
