WazHack is a spiritual successor to the classic game NetHack, and it is written by current DevTeam member Warwick "Waz" Allison.
The game honours all of the hallmarks of the roguelike tradition - procedurally-generated dungeons, turn-based play (although "turns" in WazHack are fractions of a second), vast variations of loot (250 different items) and monsters (100 different monsters), and of course, permanent death.
But that is where the conformity to the genre ends. No more ASCII graphics or even blocky tiles. WazHack is rendered in platformer styled full 3D with complex models showing all of your armour and equipped weapons on your character - and the same for monsters' equipment.
For the last 3-months, WazHack has been polished by a web-based beta period, with a total of 9 beta releases, over 200 interim patch releases, and 30,000 games played.
The result of that polish is now available for purchase as a Windows game on Desura:

The web version will of course continue and help rapidly test the 1.1 release, but already players are reporting that the Windows stand-alone version gives a much more familiar and smoother gameplay.
