Verde Station is a an exploration and discovery game set within a space station. As you explore, the plot may or may not become clear. It’s focused on the narrative and discovery elements more than typical gameplay (i.e. there's no shooting). Your goal is to explore the station, discover why you're there and what's really happening.

Week 2 of Screenshot Saturday for Verde Station. Shots and videos this week.

Welcome to Week #2 of Screenshot Saturday for Verde Station. Lots of work this week in a few areas. As I've mentioned before, I'm trying to make as much of the station as interactive as possible. There are two main reasons for this:

1. Verde Station is very focused on exploration and discovery so the more small things to discover the better.
2. The more the player can buy into the world the more they can get caught up in the experience.

So this week I focused on a few areas. First is the bathroom. You can now turn on the water in the sink. The water effect from the sink is a bit hard to see in this shot but shows up much better on screen. If you look closely you'll also notice a nice water particle effect in the pipes every time the water is turned on.

Water Test:

Next is the Kitchen area. All cabinets and drawers are now fully functional. You can open and close them all, put items in and take items out, and they all work the way you would expect.

Cabinets & Drawers:

Also in the Kitchen is a microwave so you can heat up your meals. Of course, I don't want to limit the player to only heating up food. I don't recommend microwaving books or Post-it notes but why should I stand in your way?

Microwave Test 1:

Once the interactive elements were created I had to add sound as well. And why not throw in an Atom ball just to see what happens?

Microwave Test 2:

I hope you enjoy these shots. Sorry for the low quality but I was filming my monitor. I'm hoping to have my launch trailer done in the next week or two and it will be HD. Hopefully it will give everyone a better idea of the visuals and mood of the game.

Thanks for reading this week! As always, feel free to follow along on Twitter for more frequent updates:
