Didn't the British use the Thompson 1928 (with compensator) rather than the M1A1 Thompson?
I sure hope so it was used extensivly in the N Africa canpaign but not so much in Europe. The Brits didnt really like the 50 rounds drum since the ammo was loosely contained & thus would rattle & make noice when running for example.
