Just some thoughts on the new version.
The man eating plants in the forest really need to be toned down. Getting caught by one is basically an instant game over and the wizard is really the only character capable of taking them down safely and consistently.
I don't think fizzling a spell should damage the player. Health is WAY too scarce and valuable a resource to take away for something as trivial as not holding the spell button down long enough.
I also preferred the old stat screen and buff/debuff timers over the current ones. The new stat screen doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of the interface and though a bit more informative, I still don't know what stability does for instance. A better option might be to have the icons from the previous version and let the player move the cursor up to that part of the window to show a tooltip describing the selected stat. As for the buff timers, it's a lot more difficult to tell when a buff is going to wear off which is a bad thing if, for example, you're using featherfall potions to navigate through spikes.
Otherwise I really like this update. The new characters and enchantments on items are great, as is the forest, minus the current man eating plants. Being able to put affinity points into stats is also a very nice feature.
Thank you for playing the latest alpha revision and subsequently leaving feedback! Here are my tips on not getting eaten by a plant: equip poison resist gear (+3 makes you completely immune to them entirely), shoot them from a distance with arrows, shoot them with magic, one or two hits to the base (not the head) as a knight will usually kill them, if caught: try teleporting out (use those scrolls of teleport, or the blink spell).
Just came here to say that this is a great game with a lot of potential. Reminds me of the 90's games. Really enjoying the alpha, even though survival is a bit tough. But maybe that's just what makes you keep playing this game.
Apart from that, I'd just like to say that sometimes when I spawn, a boss fight starts immediately. That being said, I spawn near a boss and mostly die. Fix this if possible.
Thanks for the public alpha again, if I could then I would support the kickstarter but unfortunately I lack means of doing so. Still, keep up the great work!
I <3 90's games.
I have to say. I have been playing since alpha 4 and I love this game!
It is coming along nicely, and I am liking the new additions to alpha 6.
Will the 4th character get is own skills or is it planned to be the hard mode character?
Casting a lighting spell when no one is on the screen should not damage the player
instead it should just shoot in the direction you are facing, also taking damage for not charging the spell it a bit too harsh.
The items in the large chest are not relay worth the hassle of fighting the boss most of the time.
The jungle difficulty jumps too much and the item reward is not that worth while.
When you get to a new zone you should have some sort of extra reward, i.e. good item or and extra skill point.
The man eating plants can kill you very quickly, even when you have over 150HP. They need to be made slower and not spawn in groups larger the 2.
The shots from flying enemies that shoot feathers linger too long, as soon as the feather stops moving it should not damage any more or be de-spawned sooner. Also the feather should de-spawn when it his a player.
Also when playing multi player, are the characters starting with lower stats?
It seems like it. If this is the case, you should up the amount of treasure chests or just leave the stats the same as single player.
I also hope that you can add an online multiplayer
Killing the wisp boss when its in a wall will cause the key to get stuck in the wall
Can start a level with a rock trap that kills you as soon as you start.
Rock traps sometimes don’t activate until a few seconds after the button has been pressed
Boss fights sometime start as soon a the level starts even when its on the other side of the map.
Also for the fun of it I have designed some characters ;)
-can not attack man eating plants with hover head weapons when eaten
-can control main menu and character select screen with game pad when the options menu is open
-dead enemies, will go into a standing pose when falling
-shop keeper attacks player when enemy archer hits him
-knight's hair changes color for some animations
Some more bugs
- sliding down on pushable block when using wall grabbing gloves bugs out player
- fairy cage can have rock trap button under it
- rouge shadow flickering
- most jungle enemies know where invisible rouge is
Thanks for all the gameplay testing. I've noted most of what you've mentioned so far. Also, nice character designs!
Thanks. I should have some more bugs soon.
And maybe some more characters.
- can use exit door when grabbing ledge. will make character fall and do door animation
- dead man eating plants still attract lighting
- can enter door when eaten by plant
- can get situations like this where you get stuck because you cant jump high enough
Thank you, awesome build. Do you think to add internet multiplayer (not only local), where we can find partners in internet?
Give them a little and they ask for more.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But seriously, we want to eventually do online multiplayer. It's just that it takes a LOT of work so we might just have that as a stretch goal.
I've been playing since the alpha 4 in my desktop computer and my laptop and i want to say that there is a lightning bug in the laptop that changes the color of the darkness to pink or violet, i don't know what is happening with this because in my PC I don't have this bug.
This could be just a hardware issue. Could you send us your log file from the computer where this is happening?
Love it. Just a quick question: Is there a way to resurrect dead players in co-op?
Yes there is! You must be near the other player who is dead. When their corpse starts shaking, the other player pressed the menu button to revive.
