It's so big because it is so big. That's all there is to it.
This bed was designed after the bed I slept in for the past few years and will sleep in for a couple more years to come. It IS that wide. The proportions are accurate on all accounts, this is exactly what it looks like. Well, except for my bed definetely having more details than this model.

He's just trying to give you advice, calm down. He does'nt know how big you're bed is, or that is was based of a real bed.

its ok. few pillows and cut those stupid verts off from each side xD. you know... too sharp.
Neccessary for the poly count. Were this a render model it would have approx. three hundred thousand polies and would of course be smoother.
I'd probably narrow the top face a bit. It would be a trapazoid shape, but it would probably look softer.
