The perfect combination of RTS and Action-RPG in an immersive open-world sci-fi setting created by one man.
For a couple of days I had to revamp my AI system entirely to achieve this. Also reading some articles about AI development helped alot.
After building two power plants (https://www.indiedb.com/games/timeless-war/images/ai-can-build-and-place-structures#imagebox) the AI proceeds by building something to gather resources. The Midas is a vehicle so it doesn't need to be placed - a refinery would be aligned and tries to put it as close as possible to the nearest ore field, independent from any nodes.
The AI is based on a Need-System, meaning it checks how much money it has or if resource counter falls under a certain line where building more harvesters or refineries becomes a more likely action. Currently it appeases the priority of gathering resources against the need for more power plants and considers not to build to much harvester for a better cost-benefit equation.
