The Island of Eternal Struggle is their first title, a turn-based RPG. Built with the classics in mind, the game has its own personal touch. The game features a class-based system, where each character has their own set of six unique job classes (24 total!), giving them access to their own skills to use in combat. Speaking of combat, the battle system is built around action mechanics, allowing players to shift the tide of combat reactively rather than passively. The game's soundtrack includes diverse tracks, ranging from the thump of an abandoned warehouse-turned-rave to the live guitar and drums of the boss theme. The art style also oozes with personality, with each character, landmark and spell design build with the intent of taking you to a new adventure in a familiar 16-bit style.

Major development update - Sea Monster edition! Wimbus Studios talks new dungeon, shows some videos and screenshots, and makes a few bad puns along the way...

Posted by on

Hello,

The Island of Eternal Struggle, the first game from developer Wimbus Studios, reached a major milestone with the completion of their latest dungeon!

What is it? Well...The party has found themselves in a tough situation, being trapped inside of the belly of a giant sea beast. The only way out is to cross paths with violent organs, seas of bile, and a parasite named Dave. It’s going to take some GUTS (ugh, that was bad)!

Sea Monster Town

A town made from bones and fish parts. It’s not too bad, once you get past the smell.

Sea Monster environment

Raise water levels, float across bile on floating platforms, and navigate through a nasty maze.

Scottish Tapeworms

Fight against enemies such as the Scottish Tapeworm, the Vital Organ, and the Meta Sea Monster (it’s a joke. You wouldn’t get it).

Dave's Couch Fort

Dave is a parasite that just won’t leave, but to defeat him you’ll have to get past his couch fort first!

We recently had the opportunity to meet with our friends, Average Giants. They got to try out this dungeon for the very first time. We also had a great chat about our development process and all of the work that went into making this happen.

The team is also working on all sorts of other new enhancements and features: new music tracks, upgraded sprites for some of our older areas, revised dialogue, improved text boxes, improved camera mechanics, and more!

If you like what you see, consider following Wimbus Studios on Twitter and Facebook to get the latest updates! We will also continue to post major updates and milestones on our Steam Announcement page as well as our blog. Are you a streamer or journalist and would like to play an early build or chat with the team? Please contact us at team@wimbusstudios.com!

Thanks again for your time, keep your eyes peeled for the latest and the greatest from us – the best has yet to come!
