Post news Report RSS Swing to the Top #2: Platforms and Colors

Studies about the design of the different platforms and their color palette.

Hello!

This last week we have been working on the shape and design of the game platforms. To do this we must first make it clear that we have 2 main types of platforms: static and unstable platforms.

Image 1: Shrubs tree leaves.

Within the static platforms the first and clearest design are leaf bushes formed by the branches of the trees. Because we want to make clear the space that is delimited as a platform (that is, the location of the collider) we decided to make these bushes with a rectangular shape.

Both the shrubs that are decorative and those that are platforms have the same design, but they are differentiated according to color, denoting the difference in which layer of depth each decorative shrub is found and marking the platforms with a border that makes clear the exact position of the collider.

Beyond this, here we can see the color palette that we have been using so far.

For unstable platforms we have opted for a large blade design, which can support the weight of the suit but for a very short time before falling over.

Image 5: Unstable platforms.

These are the advances in terms of platforms, which are the most fundamental part of the game and what we have focused on this week in terms of art.

Have a nice week!
