Yes. Yes. No. Ninjas. Yep. We know. Funny story. Yup. Mmhmm. Yes. We're sorry. Yeah. We promise. We love you too.
So according to the ancient Nordic calender it is still March (at least the SoR lre calender). Long story short; there was an intergalactic super-dimensional tear within the space time continuum that ricocheted Garrett and myself many moons forward.
Also a healthy does of procrastination on my part did not help at all. If you gentlemen really want the long winded version about school, work, finals, women, and the arduous endeavors of everyday life then we would gladly write a whole wonderful news post dedicated chronically our time in intergalactic super-dimensional hyper space.
So now that Alpha 17 is out what exactly is new? Well a whole lot. Aside from water physics functioning we also have our new crafting system working. And that is just a few of the many changes added into our latest build.

Yayyy you are finally back! Really missed you! Though I was not complaining, but maybe you should tell your fans next time about all this.
Sadly I am one of those who still can't test the new stuff ~.~ but I will happily wait until you fix that!
Kind regards
Thankfully, I will begin posting a stand-alone release of the Jar, so if we ever have launch errors again, everybody can just download that.
Thanks for your patience, I hope everybody can forgive us for such a long wait.
Don't worry they will have to forgive you ^.~
Just happy to hear all is well with you guys!
Your life first, you make the game on your time, besides working with stress is bad for your health, and quality of product.
Now back to the Deep with you!
Wow, I just bought this and didn't even have to experience all that waiting. Take that, everybody else!
Lets hear about your time in intergalactic super-dimensional hyper space. I have been there too. We can swap stories. :D
Glad to have you back.
How does it work?
Ahhh good! Contact! Im glad all is well with you gents and production is again streaming along! I cannot tell you how much I want this game to be a smashing success, and it made me very happy indeed to see you return to the light of day! Best of luck here!
I can't seem to get it to work anymore. I've tried starting the game on both my desktop and my notebook and the only thing happening is the 'splashscreen' with the anvil (if I remember correctly) displaying.
The packager program I use to get it as an EXE must of messed up. I'm gonna try to get that fixed today.
I told someone else I'm also going to start uploading a stand-alone Jar for all users.
That way if the Linux launch script get's messed up or the EXE packager gets Borked. There will still be a playable version.(That all happened this update btw, Oh boy :/)
Also, what is happening to you? Does a black screen come up?
Well, like I said I get the 'splashscreen' after choosing to play SoR, after that just.. nothing happens. The javaw.exe process runs when the splashscreen is being displayed, but after that the process 'disappears', so stops running.
I am a Windows user by the way.
I wish you the best of luck :P Fixing it should be fun though, since programming is all about solving problems, right? ;)(That's what I keep telling myself when I run into annoying bugs)
Have you tried updating Java? I've ran the current release on 3 machines and it's working fine.
this happens to me as well. win 7 64 bit.
I have the latest java and other java games run fine.
Perhaps if you have some extra time.. descriptions of items on hover-over or something would be <3... I have no idea what most of the things I look at are :P (It looks beautiful.. I mean.. I just cant.. uhm.. Dont get me wrong it looks great and it all makes sense I just dont know what goes to what before that and.. maybe its just me..)
That is totally in the plans. Probably in 2 or 3 updates I'll get cracking on some tool tips for the GUI. The GUI code was made from scratch so it will be a bit of an undertaking.
It looks awesome. I will make a new video to spread the news in russian community:D
This is good news Comrade!
Here it is;)

Worked hard trying to uderstand anything but in the end I understood that I can't understand the crafting system and the stockpiles.
I've noticed your computer is running it a bit slowly. What kind of processor do you have?
The reason is fraps. It rus pretty good when normally playing it.
It is core i7. I don't know exact parameters.
This game needs a tutorial.
It is ok without one. Like inecraft or terraria - it iw ore interesting figuring it out yourself...
I think a tutorial is a good idea. If you have no idea what you're doing, then you'll look into the games wiki and find out everything immediatly, but if it is possible that you have to find out yourself, it would be actually more fun ... at least in my opinion!
You know what, from what I have seen go down with Project Zomboid and other Developers, I think gamers / customers would for the most part be pretty understanding if in future other bits of life got in the way of artistry and maybe even inspire it a bit. Thanks for coming back into communication and hope life is going well.
