The most realistic survival/crafting game to date!

Post news Report RSS Functionality complete!

The game has complete core functionallity, which means that you can roam the map, pick up items, use them to craft new items with better properties and evn build the frame of the car with which you will make your escape and load components on to it! Some 45 items of so exist in the game, and to get the car complete you currently need about 10-15 minutes, while you also have to prove to the game that you are capable of getting shelter for the night. Focus moved to menus and options.

After a few months in development and a presentation to the Microsoft Imagine Cup, Survival Wasteland's core gameplay is complete and stable, bringing you one step closer to the survival and crafting experience. You can now roam the wasteland, gather raw materials, craft new items, and build a steam powered car to escape the desert! Keep track of time though, as if by night you do not have a construction of your own in the close area, you will be fully exposed to the rough wasteland night and start losing HP...
More specifically, you will mostly work with iron, extracting it from hematite rocks in a bloomery (you make the bloomery too - as many as you like actually!), processing it and crafting it into more usable items. You should also harvest some Yucca Baccata to give you back some HP in case you are forced to spend the night away from your territories, or if you run into any of the future menaced that will soon come to life in Survival Wasteland... Inventory management is also important, you should quickly create some form of container to store stuff in, otherwise you will be forced to drop something before you pick up something else.
Equiping the car is a tricky process, you will have to craft an engine with a cylinder or too, each comprised of a valve, a piston and the actual cylinder, you will also need a boiler to get some steam into it - fairly easy to make. But wait, there's more! You're not going anywhere without tires now, are you? And suspensions will make sure you get home with your spine intact. And there are more stuff to modify! In the end, this will be the biggest criteria, how good an engine can you load onto your car? how much steam can it pump into it? how smooth is the ride? Let your score talk! (egh-hem, with 45 items it would be pointless to implement a score syustem already, but it's no mean feat to put that in, Rome was not built in a day, right?)
So, that's what we have so far (I probably left something out), and now I'm going to focus on creating menus and options, after that come sound effects and some animation, and then enhancement!
I do have a particular mechanic in mind to add, which will definitely spice things up a bit, I might add this at any of the stages I mentioned earlier, the more you show interest the faster I will reveal what is being done now or will be done in the future.
Also, if interest is show, I will upload the current stable version of the game, and add more features (some more wildlife hazards, a better survival system etc).
'Till next time, keep on gaming, and support the developers!
