Legions of infantry, tanks, artillery guns and more await your command. Take up arms under the Stars & Stripes, Iron Cross, Hammer & Sickle, or Union Jack, then command your troops to brutal victory. Hundreds of units, custom maps, deep and fast-paced real-time-strategy play. The scale? Epic. The gameplay? Intense. The cost? Zero - Spring: 1944 is not a "mod" of a commercial effort, but a from-scratch game developed using the open source Spring Engine. In terms of other modern RTS - Spring: 1944 is the golden mean between Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes.

Post news Report RSS New gameplay video, new forums, new map!

In addition to a beautiful map, M_26_7 has put together a gameplay video showing off a big tank engagement. Also, we're shockingly close to complete with our models. Woo!

So while it's been a bit quiet around here for a while, no worries - we're still plugging away at a solid pace. While some serious new developments have come in as far as the game mechanics (limited ammo for vehicles? a supply system that doesn't drive you insane with micro? I think so!), those don't make for very entertaining news posts, so instead I bring you a new video from SpikedHelmet/M_26_7:

Also, some shots of recently made map features to add some atmosphere to the game:

Barn

Farmhouse

And finally, a top down look at our newest battleground: Prokhorovka_1944. For those of you who see this and fear for choke-points - no worries. About half of the river (the shallow looking bits) can be crossed by most units (keep reading!).

AND finally, we have new forums (decent ones, at last) - check them out for more frequent media and status updates.

Mmmm shadows from smoke. I'm not a tech geek but I'm just wondering why that hasn't been implemented more and properly in emerging real-time game engine rendering?
