RUINER
ArcadeRUINER is a brutal action shooter set in the year 2091 in the cyber metropolis Rengkok. A wired sociopath lashes out against a corrupt system to uncover...
You play a member of a looting and pillaging space pirate crew, who survive the vast hostile reaches of space by destroying, salvaging and collecting valuable resources from the empire - a collective who has complete control over the galaxy, with far too much space crystal for their own good. Of course, the empire will protect it's valuable resources with everything it has, and so your looting escapades will never be easy, as you fight waves of fighters sent to destroy you or guard the freighters that carry resources you and your crew seek.
The game will feature single player and local co-op modes, as well as a randomly generated endless mode. As you fight your way through missions and negotiate dialogues with empire 'bosses', you'll earn XP and new weapons, allowing you to improve your ship and character as you pillage and progress through in a classic space shmup horizontal scrolling game format.
Use your stat points gained to improve your base systems, which allow for improving your ship hull hit points, shields, energy levels, add new weapon slots, and improve your pirate charisma - crucial if you want to gain bonuses and allow for more dialogue options when encountering empire bosses just before you engage them!
New weapons can be earned by destroying bosses, or completing missions, and at the start of each mission you are able to use the ship load out screen to selectively choose the best tools for the job - will you take beam weapons like the arc laser to destroy strings of enemies in one hit, choose a wide spray cannon weapon for large clusters of enemies, or go for the gatling gun, to deal insane amounts of damage to enemy bosses?
Player stats can be upgraded at any point in the game - as soon as you level up, new points are ready to assign and improve your ship systems and character.
Local co-op means you can fight through the campaign missions, or endless modes with a friend, using keyboard or game controller options for controls.
The game is currently well underway in terms of development. I am the only person working on the game for now. I work as a C# developer by day, and interestingly studied Graphic Design for 3 years after school. These two skill sets have allowed me to handle the art work creation and coding on my own, however development is currently limited to evenings and weekends due to my full time job commitment. I am busy working on completing the base/core game mechanics, after which the focus will then be on game content and level design.

Thanks! I hope to get more interesting design-like stuff out in the future :) Gives me a break from the coding and creating graphics loop every once in a while!
Looking really good. Keep up the awesome work.
