I started working on Sonic: The Fated Hour in 1999 at the age of 16. In the intervening years, it has seen a lengthy and drawn-out development cycle as I've repeatedly delayed the project either to recode it from scratch (to improve the game's code base or due to data corruption/loss) or to focus on other projects. I am now back to work on this project full-time, having either canceled, postponed or finished all other projects. I want to finish it, once and for all, before I end up working on it for ten years solid.

So... hi! You may remember me from my previous project, The House. Well, my current project, Sonic: The Fated Hour predates pretty much everything else I've ever done. It was one of the first projects I started when I got in to game development at the young age of 16 in 1999. Since then, TFH has taken many forms and shapes over the years (changing and maturing as I have), but it always seemed like I had something to distract me from working on it.

Not anymore. I have brushed aside all other projects in order to finally finish TFH once and for all. I have been making steady updates to the latest edition of the code base (based off of a very early version of the "Sonic Worlds" physics system written for Multimedia Fusion) since around November 2007. In December 2007, I released a short, Christmas-themed demo, built from the current WIP edition of the game. In essence, Sonic: The Fated Hour is a 2D side-scrolling platform game that aims to replicate the classic feel of the Sega Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog games while simultaneously incorporating adventure and exploration elements similar to those seen in the Metroid and Castlevania franchises.

I figured it would probably best to collect the various videos and screenshots here on Moddb for easier organization and perhaps to gain a wider audience. Prior to this, they've been posted on forum message boards and the like, which is fine, but not exactly the most public of places. So yeah, if you're interested in the old Sega Genesis Sonic games, come over and check out The Fated Hour. There's plenty of video and screenshots to peruse.

Once I get more of the core stuff written in to the game, I will be planning a second demo with roughly three levels to try out. The demo will come with a twist, though - stay tuned to the game's profile for the game to find out what it is!
